That won’t work wirelessly with the Xbox. I bought two XSX pads this year due to stick drift, I don’t even use them very often!

I'll be using it with my PC, so not a problem.

And I'm the same with the controllers...I don't game for hours at an end, so just really annoying...why it couldn't have happened a few days ago with black Friday is a cosmic mystery.

I tried a DualSense with my laptop, worked well enough with DS4Windows but I’m sitting close to it so no issues with range/interference. I’ve gone for another Microsoft Xbox dongle & controller on the PC under the TV after trying an 8bitdo USB adapter, I’m not happy about it but there seems to be a lack of good alternatives (although I had a dropout on the Xbox adapter yesterday and I’m only 2m away).

The 8bitdo Ultimate controller is annoying in itself as only the more expensive Bluetooth version has hall sticks (no drift) but it’s aimed at the Switch with that layout of buttons, and you can’t even use Bluetooth mode with a PC as it’s locked into ‘switch mode’ with digital triggers.

It all feels unnecessarily difficult.

Doesn't your PC have Bluetooth? I use PS4 and Xbox Series X pad on mine and they just connect. Both work on Steam without issue.

Only via a USB adapter which has very poor range. I bought a PCI-E Wi-Fi & Bluetooth card but it just fouled one of the GPU fans.

If the Xbox adapter doesn’t work well I’ll have to consider the 8bitdo Ultimate (although I wasn’t impressed with the USB Receiver) or go the whole hog and upgrade to a motherboard with built-in Wi-Fi & BT.

This quick resume is a bit.....temperamental isn't it. Lost a fair bit of progress on Persona 5 yesterday - bloody annoying!

Other than that, I am loving my series S/X combo.

My (playstation loving) mate came round the other day and asked what exclusives the Series had. He wasn't impressed by Halo Infinite (nor was I to be fair) or Forza. Most of my gaming for the last two weeks has been on Ragnorok or Persona 5, neither an Xbox exclusive. Come on Microsoft - give us some exclusives!

Unsure who wanted the Vpn trick.

Go to eneba or gamivo website.

Find game you want.

Get key sent via email

Use Vpn on laptop or phone

Set to country of game code

Go to redeem.microsoft website whilst VPN is set to the same country.

Input code.

Only tip is don't swap to loads of different countries in one go or your account gets flagged and you can't use codes for a while.

I check my laptop later to see what free VPN I use but iv uses turkey, Argentina games loads.

I 'think' Brazil codes don't work

My other tip is regularly go on HotUKDeals and search for Xbox. People put all sorts of country games on there so you can spot them

Jeepers. My latest Xbox controller has developed stick drift. This will be the third sodding X controller that has developed a fault within a couple of years. My old Xbox One controller is bloody ancient and that's still absolutely fine.

Not good enough MS :(

I'm currently looking at the new 8-bit do 'ultimate' controller as a substitute...

Anyone have one of these? They look pretty swish.

If it's recent is it still in warranty? Register the device with your Ms account and it'll tell you. And yes, Xbox pads are fucking garbage. I had to send my Forza Horizon 5 one back within months of getting it.

Does contact cleaner not revive Xbox pads with drift?

I tried spraying WD40 contact cleaner into the sides of the joystick on mine but it made no difference, I’ll try opening it up at some point.

I find with Brazil just changing your Xbox location to Brazil then entering the code on the console works, last time I tried anyway I had issues through the website but it always worked on the console with no VPN required

I wonder if they treat it like cheap advertiser. If you're of a mind to do it, 1) you've spent a fair bit of cash on Gold points and 2) maybe you tend to praise GP among peers more, leading to folks signing up and paying monthly.

I had 3 full years, and just put in another 3. Reasonably expecting it to not work next time, plus cost more to boot.

Mine runs out in March next year....fully expect them the close up the gold conversion thing before this though.

At the moment not sure if I'll sub at full rate or not. It's a great service but have such a backlog of games kicking about I might just go back to playing some of these. That's before Steam etc.

Guess I'll see what comes to the service and really £10.99 is not a huge amount to find for some gaming fun to be fair. I expect by March next year it'll be the price of a pint in the pub the way inflation is going at the moment 🙄

Deffo another sign to stack as much as you can at the current price if you’re a subscriber.

What's the current most efficient way to add more months using points for an existing subscriber? I have a year left, but it feels like now is the time to add another to that before the prices goes north.....

Buy 3 months of XBLG for 15k points. It varies but each of these equates to between 50-52 days of Ultimate (x7 of these is approx 1 year for 105,000 points)

If you buy GPU with points you would need 140,000 (4 x 3 months @ 35,000)

I bought the 1TB memory expansion last week. There are just too many 'ever-present' games that are massive in size and you might want to dip into occasionally, for the default hard drive to work without it being a total ball-ache to continually move and delete stuff. Big games are getting bigger and Game Pass has so much on it, etc.

I was slightly annoyed when I found out that it's not actually 1TB but 919GB, though! Where did the other 81GB go?!

Ta - does it just automatically convert or do I have to do something special to force it? I don't need to let my existing sub run out or anything like that right?

Shouldn't need to do anything. It will automatically convert if you have an existing Ultimate sub.

You will get more if you allow your sub to expire though ie the 3 months will convert 1:1. Instructions for that are in the Game Pass thread, 1st post

My custom pad has had some stick drift / double input on the d-pad and stick for a while and I assumed it was out of warranty so just used my OG pad… thats now making a funny noise on the right bumper :( Tested the custom pad and its not magically fixed itself but being a bit pissed off that its only just a year or so old I logged on to complain….. and found out its in warranty until Jan 2023!!! Ive arranged for it to be collected but what do they actually do with pads esp custom design ones??
