Xbox Series X | S

My Venom batteries arrived today. They seem pretty decent, not sure if the USB-C lead charges it or not on Series X pads since it has its own USB micro charge lead with a separate plug in port - it has that little vibration when you plug the USB-C lead in that my borked official battery kit stopped doing, but I didn't see any indication that it was charging.

Only disappointment so far is that they have this mildly irritating square protrusion on the back (probably for a charging dock) that my fingers keep rubbing against. I'll likely get used to it, but I prefer the original smooth cover tucking the battery away.

I use old rechargeable Energizers that we've had knocking about for years, powering Christmas lights and what have you. Still last longer than the thing that's in the DS4. Just bought a bunch more of these Energizers, which keeps 3 generations of Xbox and a Wii happy.

I bet there's a good 5 page thread of battery chat hidden in these 711 pages.

My Series X should be delivered today. If I want to play Halo tonight do I just need an Ultimate Game Pass sub? And I can download Halo and play online?

(I am reading the other thread but there's a lot of Game Pass options to understand.)

That's right

you can technically play the Halo MP without any subscriptions to anything too.

Just be sure to take a good read of the first post in the thread as it'll save you a load of money :).

Yeah if you want to play Rock Band at this point it'd probably be cheaper to buy all the Xbox 360 stuff, including a 360, and play it on that.

Too true. I believe my 360 pro adapter into pdp usb is sells for twice the price of a new series x apparently.

Ordered one of these here X thingies yesterday so I’m ready for some sweet, sweet battery chat… chattery?

I blame the petrol station for giving me a £5 Argos voucher, Argos for having online stock and me for having £10 in Nectar points to spend.

£15 off though, that’s almost half-price!

You’re in for a treat, absolutely amazing console.

It’s Gamepass that convinced me. Looking through the available library, fairly sure I won’t need to actually buy a game for a long, long while.

Yeah, that’s been my experience with it tbh, there’s a lot quality on there and loads of little curios too. And when big hitters such as Forza Horizon 5 or Halo Infinite just arrive day one it’s a really good feeling.

After a year with absolutely no luck getting one and against my better judgment I’ve just ordered a halo series x off of ebay. Couldn’t find anyone willing to ship one to Japan and the scalpers in Japan are charging around £1,000 which is more than it would cost ordering it from eBay. Found a listing below the current average and around the same price as the standard black ones that resellers are selling online. Shipping and taxes were an extra £120 on top, but at least I can finally get one and as its unlikely MS will make anymore so it would probably increase in price in the future anyway. Hopefully it’ll arrive before Christmas :)

Again, be sure to follow the instructions in the first post of the game pass thread to take advantage of the 3 years Game Pass for 1 quid offer. DO NOT buy 1 month game pass for 1 quid.

Just making sure :) Otherwise, enjoy your new console :)

I guess one consolation is,you do get access to a lot of games on Gamepass, so that extra layout might not sting so much. Certainly less than paying over the odds for a PS5.

Well the seller will probably be making £50 from it after the ebay fees are taken which I have no problem with, the guy wasn’t taking the piss with his price and its got me something which I haven’t been able to get my hands on for over a year.

Plus I needed to get a region B blu-ray player as most of my discs are from the UK and at the moment my only UK blu-ray player is my ps3 which is getting on now, so it saves me having to buy and import a separate player which would have also cost a lot to ship.

Shipping and tax fees sucks but I’m going to be pretty happy over Christmas if it arrives on time :D

Thank you for the heads up. Had a read and all sounds straightforward. Will give it a go :)

Already hyped for The Outer Worlds sequel. And being able to play Dead Space 2 again. And Chime.

Oh… and I’ve never played any of the Halo games, so there’s a few hours to catch-up on.

If you’re not familiar with Microsoft Rewards then be sure to check it out (there’s a thread on here). With a few minutes a day you’ll be looking at £10-£15 a month worth of points so as and when something yo do fancy comes along, then bingo, it’s free!!

A few minutes a day, let's say 4? 4 X 30. 2 hours a month. It's not even minimum wage is it.
