My toddler loves switching on the console to turn on the telly, so I often jump in with a pre-emptive switch off at the wall.

Hmmm, I would not recommend it.  When I turn my Series X off, I notice the fan keeps going for a couple of mins after shut down so best not to cut it off during the full process.

Is the loading on the S still a significant improvement over last gen?

 

My PS5 will always be my main thing, but might replace my all digital xbox one with an S, purely for gamepass really -- got some John Lewis credit coming after buying a new TV, so would have a timely excuse!

The loading speed is also partly down to the cpu, which is vastly superior to last gen and only very slightly slower on the s than the x. You can see this when you load a game from a physical external - slower than the ssd but still a lot faster than last gen.

I almost bought an expansion drive and extra controller for my x, until I realised I could get an Series S for the same price, and 512gb in another room was worth more to me 1tb in the same room. 
 

Also - emulation station (one day). 

Bonkers, decadent but ace. 
 

I might get an expansion card one day still, especially if it’s hot swappable between the two consoles.

I remember that at a certain point, between the second and third time the credits started rolling,  the character who was explaining the story to me suddenly went all the way back to the big bang because that's really when it all started are you sitting down for this.

 

Can't wait to see what Kojima has to say about the cloud and how it relates modern society and intercultural communications. And of course what the big bang has to with it because nanomachines

I've just wrapped the main story on Sunset Overdrive the other night and collected most of the collectibles (except for the toilet roll, graffiti, and sunset overdrive signs). I'm not sure how well it ran on Xbox One or anything, but on the X it's been an absolute joy zipping around the environment and dealing with the hordes of enemies.

 

Now to find the next past generation game that I might have missed - any suggestions?
