The changes to the pad shape are pretty subtle at first but you notice them immediately as soon as you switch to an Xbox one pad.

Also, best dpad for a while. Considering where they have come from the atrocity that was the 360 dpad.

The d pad is so clicky my dog goes and hides in a different room whenever I am playing Xbox

Is it still riddled with bugs?

I've played it a bit and while there's a certain amount of jank it seems pretty stable. Very nice at 60fps too. Bargain at the cdkeys price.

It’s been that price for years on cdkeys, Christ knows how many copies they must have.

I'm surprised they never jacked up the price now people might actually want to play it.

I bought it ages ago and must get around to playing it now that the Series X can actually deliver the original vision, it seemed very ambitious at the time it came out with the massive crowds etc, and it just collapsed at times on the Xbox One.

Over a month later, my Xbox Series X controller is no closer to being returned to me by Microsoft, so in a moment of weakness this evening, following a few beers, I've ordered an Elite Series 2 from Argos for £160. That'll show 'em!

I've been using this since Monday to play Mass Effect and it really is rather lovely. There's such a fantastic heft to it, and the grip makes it sit so easily in the hands. I haven't found much of a use for the paddles yet, except to set them to take screenshots and video clips, but I imagine that once I get used to them being there I'm going to find it hard to go back to a controller that doesn't use them. I'm still not sure if it's worth one-hundred and sixty fucking pounds, but it's certainly a step up from the normal controller.

Also, for anyone who's interested, Microsoft sent me a replacement regular Series X controller (which arrived 2 days after the Elite 🙈), but this was only after approximately 7 20 min+ phone calls with their dreadful customer service department, and being lied to on multiple occasions by reps who promised me this, that and the other. I had to get pretty shitty in the end, which, as a former call centre worker, I try to avoid as much as I can.

Use 2 and set the right to a (jump in most games) and the left to x (reload) and never look back. Don’t listen to the weirdos who set them to r3 and l3 ( 😛 )

My Elite 2 is developing dodgy bumpers (double inputs) which is making me not like it. I wonder if a Gabriel-esque customer service agent at Microsoft will be as kind. It’s also had minor stick drift since day 1 but I couldn’t be arsed to send it back again.

I bought the first elite pad and the awful ‘silver’ bumper buttons broke. Such an odd choice to cheap out on those when the rest of the pad is so good.

If you still have it, you can get a replacement for that part on ebay.

Not that it should be necessary.

That’s annoying.

I’m considering alternatives now before I leap back in. The only pads I’ve had problems with have both been elite pads and both have had the rubber peel off, I’ve never had stick/button issues with any controller but clearly a lot of people do 😩

Given your experience and the testament of people's experiences in here you'd be daft to buy another.

V2 doesn’t have rubber grips, so that’s at least one less thing to worry about.

I’ve had to send two of mine back. One because of stick drift and the other kept losing connection, but I’d still recommend them over the standard pad as even with the problems, they’re still by far the nicest pad to use when they’re working.

I can imagine a v3 could be shown off at E3, so hopefully they’ve addressed the issues this time.

They're excellent when they work but the build quality is fucking abysmal for a standard pad, let alone a 'premium' product.

We've still got the V1 I was going to flog on eBay because there's something wrong with it but I can't remember what. I think the right stick is fucked and the bumper has the standard issues.

I'm surprised you got a refund for the rubber grips coming off. They came off on my Elite pad, but I don't miss them.

It's not like it renders the controller unusable.  I still think the elite pad is the best pad I've had.

I'd maybe feel different if my sticks weren't working and the buttons not registering,  but I would instantly buy another if this one broke. I need those paddles now.

The elite pads just confuse the fuck out of me. I resent paying for any gamepad, never mind one that expensive. I just can't justify paying anywhere near that much.

It's frustrating they can't build the paddles into the normal pads, but I understand it's a patent issue.

My Xbox friend list is an absolute wasteland of “Offlines” It’s like observing a once great civilisation of 360 era friends. It’s quite ghostly.

I’d love to bring some life back into my friends list. Feel free to add me - Epcotman

Could simply be they've changed their status to offline.

But if it's a new release collection of older games, is that not still a "new game"? :)

Hey! Everyone is talking about a re-master collection of Mass Effect games, the original game now being 14 years old!

Yeah it's interesting, the capcom stuff as just pointed out has a thread there.

Mass Effect here.

There's probably only a few years difference between the newest thing in Capcom and ME1.

My reason for the pic though was "Seems silly to start a thread"   "178,000 posts".
