It was pretty obvious Dudley meant first party exclusives, but you’re over exaggerating things that make it sound very fanboy-y!

You’re definitely right in that the Xbox One generation was a bad one for them, but they’re properly back on track now and it’s only a matter of time before the exclusives start coming.

It comes across that you’re trying really hard to shit on things, but they’ve got amazing hardware now and they’ve invested heavily to bring the games.

I’m not sure why you find it funny to be labelled a fanboy by me. I appreciate what MS, Sony and Nintendo are all doing and I love different aspects of them all. In fact, I can’t wait to get hold of a PS5 once they’ve redesigned it and there’s a library of killer exclusives. I’ve personally got no reason to enter into the fanboy nonsense. This was supposed to be a thread about if people are happy with their purchase, not nitpicking silly things to make sure your allegiance is known.

I mean are you even following the discussion? Citing all first party games day one on the platform as reason alone for subscribing, and then using Returnal as an example of a game you might get if it was on Xbox is kind of a weird way of saying there are no new MS exclusives, otherwise why not just name the Xbox exclusives you’ll get?

Did I miss something? I’m sat in the garden, drinking beer and eating pizza, so it’s a definite possibility I’ve skipped a few posts!

On the subject of exclusives, is there a list anywhere of what’s coming for Xbox? I haven’t really been keeping up with it, but it’d be good to see what’s in store.

What was exaggerated again?

People who don't know much about Gamepass are asking for buying advice in this thread. The distinction between every game and every Microsoft Studios game strikes me as a reasonably important distinction to make.

If you’re going to continue forum lawyering in the most tedious way possible, discounting the fact that people can read the list of available games, the two major third party games this month both came to gamepass. You’d be paying £130 for the pair on PS5.

Well that’s what those of us arguing were querying, but whatever.

it just seems like the games, the first party exclusives, are always coming, and when they do arrive, they’re on gamepass, and I have no emotional or financial attachment, so they’re going unplayed.

I've got GoW judgement with Games With Gold, started it, not completed, I’ve got GoW4 on GamePass(?) not started it I don’t think, and I think I’ve got GoW5, but the message there is so cloudy, has it been released? Is it multiplayer only? Did I install it?

The best thing about GamePass can also be the worst thing about GamePass: You’re getting the game anyway, so there’s no need for hype or excitement, and it diminishes  the overall experience.

or something...

This sums uo my feelings towards the current situation. I love my Series X and Microsoft now owns some of my most favorite developers of all time - but the upcoming exclusives from those studios are a bit like the zombies and the dragons in Game of Thrones for the first 5 or so seasons. They're coming, they're coming, really they are.

Yes you do! You have spent money on a Gamepass subscription! Why not...you know, use it!

I am.

Playing through all my Xbox and 360 stuff first. Black never played so good.

and The Crew 2. I don’t know what’s going on there, though.

A wee reminder: Dudley, in response to Lorfarius - who'd made it fairly clear he knows very little about Gamepass - stated "It's every important game for the system on day 1." This seemed like a confusing thing to say to me, for reasons that should be really obvious. Trying to frame me pointing that out as 'lawyering' the thread is characteristically absurd.

The degree of hypersensitivity to any perceived criticism of Microsoft in this thread is tiresome in the extreme, stating obvious facts in as bland and uncontroversial a manner a possible gets you labelled a 'fanboy' who's 'nitpicking'. I've owned every Microsoft console since launch and been keen to praise them when they've got stuff right, that includes Gamepass which I've got a three year subscription for and been overwhelmingly positive about as a value proposition - it's a good enough service that it doesn't need it's benefits stated in a misleading fashion.

Well it is every important game.
You’re playing the multiplatforms on PS5, surely?

(hard to tell, because no one ever talks about multiplatform games for some reason)

I really don’t think you’re in a position to tell anyone else what their posts sound like when you spend this much time desperately arguing in favour of a corporation you’re in love with then try to be all “what, me? A fanboy? I’m just going about my day” when people call you out on it. It’s very clear to everyone that you’re one of the few die hard fanboys left here.

They have literally all the same problems they’re had for the last generation right now, as well as all the same strengths. Gamepass is incredible value, but if you don’t like the same old Forza and Gears borefest nothing has changed in their first party output. Sure maybe it will? But pretending that it’s all fixed now is exactly the level of fanboy nonsense you constantly accuse other people of.

Rather than this back & forth, it could just be clarified that -  “every Xbox Studios published game comes to Game Pass day one”, and that’s just the end of it?

No. On this glorious Sunday, it needs to be debated to the point of despair. Nothing less will do.

Yeah but define day one.  What if GamePass is being played off planet.  You just can't claim day one like that.   I NEED MORE CLARITY!!

But what about the other important games, what about those?

Where exactly have I said it’s all fixed now? I’ve said time and again that the hardware is excellent and even though they’ve made moves in the right direction regarding games, we’re going to have to wait for them.

And you can drop all this bullshit about me being in love with a corporation or even being a fanboy. Yes, I’m well impressed with my Series X, but it’s a console for fuck’s sake! Sort your head out.

The phrase “properly back on track now” presuming you meant with regards to first party releases. I hope they are too but we can’t ignore the fact that we haven’t seen any big releases from them for a while, and Halo Infinite didn’t exactly go as planned, to say the least. So I think it’s still too early to decide that tbh.

By that I meant they’ve got the hardware sorted and they’ve got plenty of game studios now, so compared with the start of the Xbox One generation where they ditched all their studios and went all in on TV, they are properly back on track. Hopefully that track doesn’t lead to a dead end!

But even at that point they had more first party games than they have had recently.

I still find it bizarre that they launched the Series consoles with basically no exclusives whatsoever. Let’s be honest Phil Spencer has been studio head for some time now, and there’s only so long you can dine out on Gears 5 and Forza Horizon 4, their last big tent pole releases, some two and three years ago.
