I think a fanboy spends more time criticising the other console than praising their own. It suggests they’re insecure of their own purchase. It’s been this way since C64 vs Spectrum in the playground.

I distinctly remember getting teased over my love of the Octopus Game and Watch, whilst rich boy shit head had the double screen Donkey Kong.

Wankers, all of them.

Are you keeping them in a piss filled sealed cupboard?

Testing conducted on this very forum has shown that a simple golden shower can resolve 90% of all issues experienced by the Xbox.

The first one was DOA straight out of the box, pristine. The other has has hardly been used and my house is a dust free palace thank you very much.

2 from 2  of my Xbox Series X machines have failed.

The launch one one wouldn't even stay on. Now my son's machine won't play discs. Pretty bad show.

Blimey, that is unlucky. Here was me thinking the thing’s are bombproof. I’ve never had such a quiet and responsive console. Not since the advent of discs anyway.

On the plus side, the Series S which I got to replace the launch machine is perfect.

I noticed today that my series X has four little rubbery "legs" on the side. Is it okay to lie it on it's side? Am I asking for trouble?

Obviously it'll be harder to piss into, but I can live with that.

Yes it’s designed to be on that side or upright but it’s clear form a design perspective that it’s meant to be stood upright as it looks so much better. Perfectly fine on their side though if that’s what works for you.

Same with the PS5, you can technically have it horizontally but it's very, very clear they don't want you to.

Why’s that? They include a stand specifically designed to offer that option and use a mixture of horizontal and vertical imagery across their sites.

Audio

Users will now have a new option to enable audio passthrough with your favorite media apps by going to Settings>Audio>Advanced>Allow Passthrough on the console.

Quick Resume

A much requested user-feature is being included in today’s update! Users will now have access to a new group that will show all current Quick Resume save states. Additionally, the Guide will now indicate if your actively running game supports Quick Resume.

Passthrough at last!

That's a welcome addition - ideally I would want every game to support it, but at least this prevents nasty surprises. I hope this also means that the games that *do* support QR, will do so more reliably with this update. Loads of games work every time, but a few still crap out every 3 to 4 quick resumptions.

I think audio passthrough means that apps like Netflix will just pump out their native audio format, regardless of what you have your Xbox set to.

So if you have your Xbox set to Dolby Atmos but you're watching something in 5.1 (or vice versa), the Xbox won't try to do any conversion to the audio which can introduce lag.

I think that's what it means anyway. I'm more excited about the Quick Resume transparency features, as that continues to be completely random for me on just about everything.

Thanks, in that case hopefully this will fix the tiny audio lag I have on Disney+.

That's the upside, but now that I think about it this is probably also a sign that we shouldn't expect 100% QR support for the entire Xbox library anytime soon.

Had a really annoying thing happen.

I use my X and S for the same games, switching between the two. As others have said it usually syncs everything perfectly. Even when a QR title has a save state on one console and you launch on the other.

I was playing Control mainly on my X. I fired up my S and it somehow overwrote my more recent cloud save with my S save. I then fired up the X to try and sync the later save on that to the cloud but, you guessed it, it synced the older cloud save to the X. I’ve lost about 4 hours progress and not sure I can be bothered to play it again. It definitely didn’t ask me if I wanted to overwrite so assume it was a glitch.
