Kojima is in talks with Microsoft about publishing his next game, according to a source familiar with the matter. And yes, that statue on Phil Spencer’s shelf was referencing a potential deal with the legendary developer.

That’s the only thing of any note then?

Twitter is fucking weird.

Thanks for clarifying by the way!

I've been playing Death Stranding on PS5 the last few weeks. It's an interesting curio. It's not straight up bad but it also isn't something I'd recommend unless you're interested in peak Kojima so crazy. Fun for what it is, but also goes on way too long, has terrible pacing, and it's certainly not a big get for Microsoft if it ever appears.

I think that's what a lot of games news journalism is now, a tiny nugget of info spun out into a few hundred words.

Nonetheless, that rumour + a toy on Phil Spencer's office shelf - a port of death stranding = Interest (for me anyway).

Sony own the IP for Death Stranding and it's made with their Decima engine. There's no way it's coming to Xbox. I could see the episodic horror game Kojima was meant to be working on for Stadia being a good fit for Gamepass, though.

You’re bang-on there I reckon.

I wonder how far along it was before Google pulled out?

Death Stranding was my GOTY ‘19, nothing like it, and I just loved the journey.

It won’t be coming to Xbox, no but if Kojima is making something new, always good news!

I remember there being a thread title running joke here with “A Hideo Kojima Game” subtitle thrown in as a bit of a piss take.... wonder how these people will feel about an Xbox exclusive Kojima game now?!

What’s the connection? Why wouldn’t people want an Xbox Kojima game?

You tell me! I have no idea. Whatever Kojima produces next, I’ll be there day one.

Why did you mention it then?!

I’ll definitely be interested to see what he does with Xbox, if the rumours are true. It came across as though you were saying people with Xboxes wouldn’t be interested in a new Kojima game.

Has anyone got remote downloading reliably working? Sometimes it does. Sometimes not. Mixed results from game pass app and /or Xbox store website.

I’ve found that remote downloading from the MS store website rather than game pass app seems to work.

It's gonna be MGS remake. Bringing konami and kojimi back together. Except they never left. The ultimate conspiracy theory played like a damn fiddle moment ever.

Yes, sir. I recovered all of Death Stranding’s dummy gameplay data.

PS4? Yes. The inferior console was the winner after all.

What should I do about the Xbox version? Yes sir. I'll keep it under surveillance.

Yes. Thank you. Good-bye. Mr. President of Konami.

Fuck these people. Sony has a bad week and now even Gamespot are declaring their love for the side they spent the last gen having digs at every opportunity.

Xbox may have some momentum but they're still years away from delivering on the promises of the last few years.

Gamepass is great if you are new to Xbox but as a "xbro" (dafuq?) of the last gen,  its still packed full of titles I've owned or played for years or from  gens ago.

Early generations are always light on must have  system sellers and I'd easily argue that Xbox has yet to produce one this gen or anytime soon.

The xbox brand was deservedly the ginger stepchild in the gaming medias opinion last gen. Whilst it put out average to mediocre scoring games when it wasn't backing 3rd party disasters these sites couldn't wait to spin any news to portray MS as useless if worth mentioning at all whilst overpraising to the point of sickening every Sony title after another.

This ain't right is all I'm saying.

I agree with all three of these statements.

With the small exception that there are new titles on Game Pass, and most of the back catalogue games on there are now in the PS Plus Sale at £25.

It's fucking stupid.

Even on here I get accused of having a side whenever I criticise one or the other, despite owning both.

I guess saying they're both good but with flaws isn't a good story.

Any word on the official wireless headset coming to the UK? It has an RRP for £90 but not available anywhere. Only place I have found is ebay at about £15o

I've got one, they're already out. I bought it for RRP off Amazon.

They're prob just completely sold out, like everything is.

Yeah I figured they were. Just unable to get them anywhere. And like the consoles, no retailers are doing the sensible thing and offering pre-orders for stock drops.

Is there any reason why retailers aren’t doing pre-orders for Xbox Series X / PS5s, taking a deposit, and assigning them to customers as they come in? Presumably if you limited it to one console per address / payment instrument, you could head off scalpers.

Game are normally so desperate for cash, I’m surprised they haven’t done something similar.

I think they have realised why fucking bother? They know those consoles will sell in a matter of minutes to desperate people and bots. Every console sold to a bot is a console that the retailler will likely not have to support for 12 months with a warranty, since the person who buys it from the scalper will just go directly to manufacturer with any issues.

I don't understand why anyone would watch that video. It's obviously clickbait of one variant or another and there's a person I've never heard of or seen doing a stupid face. The volume of people on here looking for crazy and then getting annoyed by it or snarking at it makes no sense to me. Just go to normal places, guys.

Agreed. More YouTube noise. Just filter it out and move on.

As I get older its another thing I have no time for... console wars etc. Just wastes my time. Don't have to feel like I need to justify my choices to anyone.. it does what I want it to do and has content on it I want to play. Haven't got time for everything so if I miss some whizz bang game somewhere else well who cares? Especially less so if its locked behind a hardware paywall. Sometimes I do make exceptions - for Nintendo mostly. Anyway probably one for the "Old age gamers" topic I guess. :D

Yeah, it makes sense that they'll sell whatever they get, so why bother with the extra hassle? But I would have thought that most retailers would prefer some cash now and some when they next get some stock in (rather than it all in one go), so it might be worth their while if they could take deposits or pre-payments. I dunno, maybe they're making so much money from sales as they are, they needn't bother.
