Don't think so. Original, sans headphone socket. Newer one with. Then the bluetooth model with the One S. Then what we've got now with an extra button. I've never used an Elite to know where it falls into this.

I can't believe I didn't bother reading the link I quoted. My apologies @Halo and to everyone else.

Launch Controller, improved controller, Elite (and Elite 2?)

He said 3 major revisions plus the 2 elites though?

And just last gen.

I know they added the headphone socket and bluetooth but I wouldn't say they were major, I guess they could be to someone else though.

edit - I see more people have weighed in.

So some sort of fix for Quick Resume went to insiders in December, I just don't know if that went into prod for everyone else in January.

edit - no, I would say not, looking at the release notes here https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/hardware-network/settings-updates/whats-new-xbox-one-system-updates and the known issues list.

They don't say what titles they have turned off QR for, but that wasn't my issue. Destiny 2 did quick resume, I just lost loads of progress. I'm just going to continue quitting games until this is fixed, everything loads in a few seconds these days anyway.

What progress did you lose in Destiny? Even on the One I’d just turn the machine off as couldn’t ever be bothered logging out. I’ve never lost any progress.

Most of the intro mission the first time (until you get outside proper and there's a chap outside), and then part of the outside mission. But I assume what the One does is quite different to quick resume.

User error? Does Destiny 2 not just save on the fly? It's fine if not, but it should clearly state you need to log out or something.

The game doesn't have checkpointing as such. If you're doing single player content then I think you need to finish a step in whatever questline you are on before switching off. Beyond the very opening mission I don't think I've ever thought about saving my progress, I think the game saves constantly server-side.

Destiny doesn't save mid mission as its constantly online game (same reason you can't pause), but saves every time you finish a piece of content; the end of the first mission where you meet Shaw Han is a hard end of a mission so the game should have picked up from where he gives you the next quests (maybe you have to speak to him first but IIRC the first mission ends before that point).

This is irrelevant of quick resume which will never work with D2 as it requires you to be logged into the server to play so that connection will be broken the minute the machine powers off

It's probable I didn't hit the relevant checkpoint, then. Also, if it doesn't save the game's state, and with games loading absurdly quickly now anyway, I'm not sure I see the point of quick resume. Rather than quit games with online components, it would be easier if you could just disable QR.

It made absolute sense for the XB1 to keep a game in memory, so you wouldn't have to wait 17 minutes for FH4 to load, for example.

It was major, the first version of the Bone controller had terrible shoulder buttons which made for example Souls completely unplayable. They improved the dpad too and general ergonomical feel. Being able to plug in a headset is also pretty important. Furst Bone controller was shite, the second revision onwards was excellent imo.

Fair enough then! I was thinking of a major revision being like adding more stuff like the dual shock sticks for the playstation rather than little tweaks, that was all really :)

The haptics along with the adaptive triggers, in particular, in WRC 9 are a real game changer for me with racing games. They need to be implemented well though, I’m not overly impressed with how Dirt 5 does it but I did play that after WRC 9.

I have a Switch and Pro Controller, in comparison to the DualSense it just feels like a controller with a bit better rumble imo.

I think its fair enough that they might put the haptic and adaptive tech into the 1.5 console release controller IF it is giving the PS5 a clear advantage and the fans still want it.

I wonder how easy it would be for them to do so given that I am guessing Sony have patented the shit out of the tech in the dual sense?

They would definitely want to make it easy for devs to 'switch on' for Xbox titles so its not a whole new standard for them to learn.

Had the Series X just over a week now and really love it. Also enjoying Fallen Order, although surprised to see some pop in on Bogano. Was slightly concerned when I died and it took around 30 seconds to respawn and this is installed on the internal ssd. Love the new pad too.

My favourite thing about this new console is the peace and quiet. I can hear what the characters in the game are saying and having played almost everything for the last few years on a PS4 Pro this is a revelation.

I think as operational machines the X and the S are pretty much perfect for me. With the caveat that they get quick resume fully working on all non server connected titles. Silent, solid, instant to boot, fast, expandable. With the added bonus (I know its not new) of instant cloud loading when you switch machines.

All it needs for the longer term is some nice exclusives (assuming we're still doing exclusives on all the other sides) to keep the Xbox corner super relevant.

I still look forwarding to getting the PS5 for the inevitable build up of exclusives on that side and I guess I would take a controller revision with some haptics but as a complete gaming solution my X/S combo is ticking so many boxes for me right now.

I love the sound of the haptic triggers, but the cynic in me is concerned that there may be a higher fail rate in a controller with lots of gizmos and sensitive parts. My Switch controllers, for example, have the drift issues despite all the magic within them.

The Series X just feels like a solid gaming workhorse. I get games at 4k60fps, and it runs near-silently with a controller that feels like it could withstand a few drops. I switch it on and it gets me into a game very quickly. Thanks to Game Pass I have not purchased a game for the system, yet my SSD is full of titles I am interested in trying out.

It feels like an evolution of gaming, rather than a revolution, which is enough for me. Sony is going for something more radical, which is great as well for those who want that innovation. Although, IMO the roll-out of streaming games via GPU has the potential to really shake up the industry, allowing people to play their games wherever they have a smart device and a controller.

Picked one up the other day. Haven't had an Xbox since the 360 and loading it up for the first time felt like coming home. What's going on with the parties? The audio quality is piss-poor. Has it been like this since launch and is there any word that it's going to be fixed? Is this a problem you've all been experiencing?

Yeah, just a wired headset into the controller. So basically a bunch of us have moved over from PS4s and we're all having the same issue. All of our voices dropping in and out and sounding "robotic" if you get me? All have open NAT types. Tried DMZs, port forwarding, different headsets, etc.

Edit: got everyone to change DNS to Google's and it seems to have sorted it.
