How long are the Yakuzas sticking around for? I’m slowly chipping away at Zero, so I’ve got a long way to go.

Like  an absolute wazzock, I’ve got them all on PS4, of course, but I do love me some 60fps with no load times on the side. Maybe, once they’re gone, I’ll have a PS5 and they’ll all play with the same enhancements, and I’ll be happy.

Unless Sega is willing to patch each of those PS4 Yakuza games that run at 30 (I'm guessing that would be Kiwami 1, 2, and 6 - I assume the remasters are 60) to run at 60 on PS5, you'll only be playing them at a rock solid 30 on the PS5. Should still have the loading times benefits though.

They actually patched out some music due to licensing. The music that plays in Don Quijote is licensed and their deal with that chain must have expired as they took that music out of all the old games (even the older releases on ps4) and the shop itself has been replaced with a police station in Like a Dragon.

That's such a shame, like all Yakuza players I can hear that music every time I read about Don Quijote.

A while back there was some hdmi/optical talk and adapters/switches.

I have a question for anyone who has since picked one up or just knows their stuff:

any advice appreciated :)

HDMI 2.1 audio extractors don't exist yet.

I got an HDMI 2.0 audio extractor and it works fine but there appears to be a delay on Dolby Digital output on the Series X that simply didn't exist on the One X. I don't think it's the audio extractor causing it, I think it's the machine itself. I can't get lip sync right at all, and it's been frustrating the hell out of me. I found a thread on one of the Microsoft support forums with literally hundreds of people complaining about the same thing. So for now I've just reverted to stereo through speakers, and Atmos for Headphones, both of which have perfect sync, and I'm adding it to the list of things that'll get fixed in a firmware update some day.

Thanks, which extractor did you get?

Perfect Game Pass Fodder

I keep seeing this. I sort of know what I think it means but wanted to check.

A game that you probably wouldn’t buy at release / full price but would take a punt on with gamepass?

So it’s a positive thing? I always think it sounds a bit derogatory. It gives these sorts of games a far wider audience? Call of the Sea being another recent example.

30 games coming to Xbox "exclusively" in 2021.

Some good looking games on that list and I get far too excited every time I remember about Flight Simulator coming out this year. Can’t wait for that and I’ll finally be able to find out if you can fly under the Clifton Suspension Bridge.

No idea how that' going to work on a pad.

I imagine it will have a simplified pad only set of controls along with an option to plug a keyboard in.

I think it’s also due to have some flight stick options alongside release?

To me, a 'perfect for Gamepass' game would be something I probably wouldn't have bought unless it was on a deep sale but I'm glad I got the chance to play it because it's 'free' and I enjoyed it.

New Super Lucky's Tale is a good example. Perfectly competent 6/10 platformer that I completed and enjoyed. Would I pay full price for a sequel? Likely not. Would I play a sequel if it came to Gamepass? Definitely.

Seriously considering selling my PS5, it's just getting no use just now with the amount of games available with gamepass.

On the gamepass fodder description, Outer Wilds is a great example for me. The game deserves to be lauded on it's own merits but gamepass is the perfect vehicle for it.

I suppose I think if the word fodder as negative. A ‘gamepass’ game for me isn’t necessarily a 6/10 game that I wouldn’t buy. It’s a game I would overlook because it’s not the type of thing I normally go for. Regardless of how good it is. As long as gamepass is making money for the devs/publishers then I guess it doesn’t really matter.

I would hate to be enjoying games on gamepass to discover that it’s a Spotify situation and they’re getting shafted. Pretty sure it’s a good deal all round though? (For the moment at least)

I just had a Series S dropped off after they came back in stock on Amazon - I thought the One X was a tiny feat of engineering, but I was actually shocked at how small this box is in the flesh. I've currently got it perched on top of the one X like a scuffed Mega CD tower, and there's still plenty of clearance under the telly for adequate cooling. And it's really fucking quiet, at the very least while I'm watching stuff on All4 as games get installed on it.

Main reason I bought it was because of gamepass console-only stuff and to slap developer mode on it for Retroarch. I don't see myself going to a 4K television or buying a physical game any time soon, so it's perfect for my uses.

I am hoping for some more denser and cheaper storage solutions, mind - although that will happen as soon as SSD prices come down.

'cooling', not 'cooking'. Thanks, Android.

I know this probably makes me sound like a console war frontline apologist, but the small hard drive doesn't really bother me at all. I never bothered upgrading the base PS4's, and I'm not bothered about it here, either. There's rarely a situation where I'd want to have more than four games on the go, in fact I'm rarely playing more than two. Plus with pretty quick, unlimited broadband, it's no issue swapping games overnight, or during the day, when I decide to.

If I lived in the sticks and had shit broadband then admittedly I'd probably feel different.

I do agree with that sentiment - it's not like you can't plug in a USB3 drive to have an effective cold storage solution, either. Even in my PC, a very large majority of my games are on traditional magnetic hard drives - the SSD is just there for the entire system to feel super snappy, along with one or two specific games that really benefit.

When the time comes, though, I'll happily take a caddy that I can slap a Sabrent Rocket NVME into and just plug it into the XBox via the expansion slot. I mean, if the opportunity is there and it gets cheap enough, it's better than opening the console up to replace the internal M2 card.

Series X advice again, so in prep I’ve copied over most of my games to my external hard drive.

Only leaving the ones off there that are optimised for Series X.

Is it worth me copying those over as well and moving them back one I have the Series X set up.

Then I can just DL the Series X patches or is it not that simple and I’ll need to download them again. It’s only a few tbh but just wondering.

Don't bother with the Series X stuff. It created an issue with a couple of my games where it copied over the Series X version and kept a separate version on the External. When you tried to launch the game it just threw up an error. Even deleting the External version didn't help. I ended up deleting both and redownloading it.

1tb is loads. My series x has literally 35 games on it

Indeed. Still got lots of space on mine. Then I delete off games I've not played in over a month and generally only have a couple of games I keep going back too and one that I have currently in play.

I would even be fine with 500GB. If only MS would have done an all digital series X and dropped the physical drive and charged £350 for it.... I don't think I will any point have a need for the Blu-ray drive on the X at all. Not used it yet in the three months I've had the machine.

I love the form factor of the Series S and a redesigned Series X without the drive would be great.
