Have you heard anything from Game about your All Access order yet @cassidy?

I got an email from them on Thursday saying it was ‘packing’, but I can only assume they’ve run out of tape as I’ve not heard anything since ;-p

I got the same email Friday, though it did state it was a pre-order and had the date of 31st Jan 21 as release date.

So tbh I have no clue when to expect it.

4k/120 is REALLY not worth a lot of additional expense.

It’s looks incrementally better than 4K/60 imo. I have LG screens that do both - and honestly wouldn’t bother spending a fortune on it as its simply not worth it.

LG screens are however amazeballs, so if you haven’t got an OLED one of those - then push the button as you wont regret it, but I wouldn’t stress about the amp just yet.

I currently have a 4k LG LCD that also does 3D.  5 yrs old this year and the LG OLEDs do look like a bit of a leap.

Yeah I saw the pre-order thing. Oh well fingers crossed it’s soon. Cheers.

Speaking theoretically - yes I think you would probably just wait until you had less than a year remaining, to avoid bumping up against the 3 year limit.  Payment through Klarna is seperate from the 2 year membership activation, so you'll start paying right away regardless.

If you already have more than a year of Game Pass I would question why you'd want to go the All Access route, to be honest - you end up paying more in the long term.

I don’t understand. Why would you end up paying more as long as you wait until you’ve got 1 year left before activating the 2 years?

I went the All Access route purely because it was a way of getting an order in for one now. It’s interest free so nothing to lose.

All Access costs £695.76, spread over 2 years - that's the cost of a Series X (£449) plus 2 years of Game Pass (£246.76).  A quick Google suggests a full price 12 month sub to Game Pass is £99 - so even ignoring the fact that you can find it even cheaper than that, you're paying quite a premium for the sub.

Don't get me wrong, I went with All Access - I don't mind paying the premium because the monthly cost is very palatable.  But if I already had loads of Game Pass I'd probably just buy the hardware and be done.

Series X at Amazon

Edit. And gone. Christ.

This has to be the worst I have ever seen for availability of stock of new consoles. Even the S, whilst generally more available, seems to be gone fairly quickly.

I bet MS wish they had made more now.

The S is on Amazon now as well, apparently. But yes, it's shit. PS5 is even worse. Graphics cards, too.

To be fair, I paid for a good chunk of it with the vouchers i get for being in the national statistic testing sample, but still.

Ah okay. I’m sure I’d read somewhere that it was actually ever so slightly cheaper to get on All Access but until I saw it pop up at Game last week had never really looked into it or considered it.

Not to worry anyway. I’m happy to pay a bit extra just so I don’t need to be stressing about checking Amazon in the right 10 second period they‘re available each month.

On cod and destiny you endlessly get wrecked by elite pad users. On destiny it allows you to slide and fire shotgun at the same time, which is just op as fuck and makes them unbeatable. Worst gaming invention ever.

Yeah, I gave up on Iron Banana this season because of the slide shotting Felwinters Lie bullshit. Fucking sick of it.

You don’t need paddles to slide/blink shotgun - I’ve done that for years without paddles!!!

The only time I owned an elite pad I had to sell it as it killed my hands, will defi give an elite 3 a go tho!

It’s cheaper than paying full price... 450 for console + 10.99 x24

Bit of an odd question but is there a way to force the Xbox to rescan its hard drives for games or rebuild its indexes or something? (Kind of equivalent to the PS4's "rebuild database" function)

I've bought an external SSD and copied all the games from my previous HDD to it - then removed the original HDD.

Now when I first load up a new game, it hangs for about a minute then says "this game took too long to start". Every time after that, it's perfectly fine. So my suspicion is it's confused and somehow still looking for the old HDD, at least the first time it loads.

I mean I guess I could go through and start every game on the drive once which would resolve the problem, but I'd hoped there was a way to just force it to rescan the drive for games. I've done a full shutdown-and-restart without any success. Any ideas?

Have you done a hard restart by holding the power button down for ten seconds while it's on? Do that, unplug the power for a minute, plug it back in and turn it back on.

Just had an email from Game to say that mine has been dispatched...so look out for the email if you've not already had one :-)

Yeah, didn't help unfortunately. Ah well, it's a minor inconvenience at worst I suppose, cheers for the replies though @moosegrinder and @Mr Tony

Thanks for confirming.

Been looking at those LG CX TV's over the weekend. Really tempted but it would mean upgrading my Amp to one that does HDMI 2.1 and 4k/120 and that's about another £600.  Let's hope I get bonus in March.

Run it straight into the LG and use ARC to get sound to your amp (assuming it supports it)

But 4k/120Hz is needed for VRR which is a must imo.

Have you checked your storage to make sure all of each game is on a single drive? I had a similar issue and it seemed to be because I had (for example) the campaign and multiplayer installed to different drives. Once I moved things around so the full game was on the internal storage the issue went away.

Yeah, this is happening with all sorts of stuff, even tiny little GamePass games with no DLC/extra gubbins.

If I've played it previously on my old (removed) HDD, and launch it from my new one - I get the error

If I haven't played it before, it's fine

If I've copied it across from my internal drive, and launch it from the new one, it's fine

If I've downloaded it directly to the new one, it's fine

But as I mentioned it only happens the very first time I launch the game, so it's not exactly a show-stopper. Just a bit odd.
