See, Hitman 2 works for me most of the time but occasionally it fails. I think maybe it depends on the menu you quit out on? Or maybe it's just flakey. It definitely works more often than not for me but I always quit back to the game menu first.

Quick resume should be disabled on those games that require a constant online connection as it totally screws them up. Case in point Doritos Crash Course which has a head fit everytime it boots in from QR (my daughter loves this game BTW, thats why we are always playing it!)

It’s fine if I drop back to the dash and suspend it as normal, but if I play something else I’ll have to start it again. I’ll be playing everything through Hitman 3 client soon anyway, that’s a proper Series S/X title so maybe it’ll be sorted.

I agree and mentioned this earlier in the thread. For Apex, QR either makes getting into a game longer or (rarely) just flat out crashes the game requiring either a reboot or loading another game to make it work.

Maybe when they get around to making a proper X/S update for Apex it will improve. But right now it’s terrible user experiences: quick resume into the game at whatever point you left it but with frozen controls, wait for a couple of seconds, get a server error and get kicked back to the start of the game.

I’d like an option to turn off QR for some games. Right now I always make a point of quitting Apex via the menu after playing. Solves the problem but feels like I’m working around bad design.

That's strange because I went through a period of switching between that game and Cyberpunk and QR worked fine with both.

I think Microsoft have temporarily disabled it on some games, but to be honest I've barely read into it.

All I really know is, it doesn't work for me, and it's a minor niggle that I can do fuck all about.

Lockdown really does a number on my common sense. For a mad second I really considered getting an S for the upstairs room I WFH in (I have an X downstairs). Which is wrong for so many reasons.

Thankfully my self control lasted a few seconds longer than Curry's stock.

Series X consoles are 'only' going for between 550-600 on eBay now. Once you take eBay fees and PayPal fees off that you're not making a great deal of profit so I'd expect the scalping to subside on them fairly soon.

That's good. PS5s still seem silly money. But I can wait.

I love mine. My son is playing through Lego Jurassic park and city. On the Wii u the load times were antennal and on here take seconds. Plus with quick resume he's straight in. Must have saved hours in load times already. Same with dragon quest, iv been playing an hour a night and just pop on, load it up and I'm straight in within seconds.

I have my S!

I'm a touch overwhelmed, to be honest. I haven't used any Xbox since the One was released, which even then was logging in to somebody else's. It took me forever to find the store, I don't  know why I have 2 avatars, and there are just an insane number of Game Pass titles available to me.

I literally have no idea what to play on it! Everything will doubtless take me all damn day to download. My library seems lighter than it was, but there are also games I have no recollection of buying in it. Where the hell is the Live Arcade version of Outrun I bought, and when the hell did I buy Phantom Dust? (For that matter, what even is Phantom Dust?)

But it's a lovely little console. Much smaller than I expected it to be, and literally perfect as the Game Pass box I bought it to be used as. Time to start doing some of these Quest things, I guess. And then to attempt to work out game-sharing with my son. And then to find all the cheap and sale sources I've not been looking at since 2015.

Like I said ... Overwhelmed!

My X decided to completely forget my pads this morning. NEither of them would sync or connect in any way with bluetooth. I had to hard reset. Not worrying at all.

The very same issue occurred at times with the Xbox One as well. I had it happen quite a few times.

Sadly OutRun isn’t backwards compatible.

My S has done the pad thing once too.

Internet suggests it’s a common issue

MS have acknowledged it as a known problem are have said they are working on a fix.

Quote

Known issue: Some users are noticing that their wireless controllers won't connect to the console after it's powered on.

Workaround: We're looking into the issue, but at this time there's no known ETA for a fix. If you experience this issue, perform a hard reset by holding the Xbox button on the console for 10 seconds, releasing it only when the device shuts off. After powering the console back on, the controllers should be functional.

Quote

Known issue: Some users may be experiencing frequent disconnects with their new Xbox Wireless Controllers that were included with their Xbox Series X|S consoles. The disconnect rate may be higher when using these controllers on an original Xbox One console.

Workaround: There is no known workaround at this time but the proper teams are working on a fix to be included in a future console update. To make sure you have the best possible experience, we do recommend making sure the firmware on your controller is update to date. You can update your controller firmware by following the steps posted here.

Does anyone else find that for the first 5-10 minutes or so after turning their Series X on, the fan runs loud? This is from always-on standby with a disc in the drive and it happens whether I sit on the dashboard or play a game digitally or the disc game.

Then it always quietens down to essentially silence after 5-10 minutes and remains that way until I turn it off. I don't understand why it needs to run the fan loudly after booting up but not after hours of actually playing a game.
