Have they said why they removed the optical out? I knew it didn't have one and I've just spent an inordinate amount of time recalibrating Rock Band 4 because the TV optical gives different latency to the direct optical. I need to know if the reason is legitimate or they're just being lazy bell ends about it.

Phil Spencer said in an interview it's because they know how little it was used on the Xbox One, versus the cost of including it this time around. Sony have done the same with the PS5.

It's an annoying one as even with Optical out on the Xbox One Rocksmith wasn't as good as the 360 because of the slight audio lag. It's basically unplayable through HDMI.

Really need to get on of those HDMI to HDMI/optical splitters but I don't know how much audio lag they introduce.

Theoretically none. I guess it depends on the quality of the splitter. Someone answered my question about it earlier in the thread, I'll try and find it in a bit.

It's a semi-dead standard for most purposes. It's still useful and a pity it couldn't have been kept

Quick Resume is the real deal. Quick resumed back into a boss battle with Hades on Odyssey last night and then quick resumed into the start of the fight with Kuze in Yakuza 0 tonight.

Handed them both their arses as well. 8-)

Have they actually patched any 30fps games to be 60fps on Series S, like they said they were working on? I would love FH2 at 60fps.

I plugged normal platter HDD into my Series S and am pretty happy with the time it takes to move stuff back and forth. I might still get a cheap external SSD, so I don’t have to move One games back to the SSD at all, but it’s a lot better than I thought it’d be. I’ve now got about 600GB storage and that’s plenty for me.

I would imagine it's unlikely any work will be done on FH2 now as it's been delisted from the store. You'd think they would focus their efforts on games that are still available for purchase.

I nearly bought a series S earlier when they appeared in stock so I could setup a haven in my home office for when the kids take over the big tele at Xmas.

Help me. My partner is not going to like it but I don’t feel I have a choice.

Get a switch instead and play it in the lounge :P

Anyone else having issues with intermittent audio when using uncompressed 5.1 or 7.1? I normally have it set to Atmos bitstream but when you plug a mic into the headset it can't send Atmos for some reason and it defaults to one of the uncompressed types, which stutters annoyingly.
