My elite v2 controller developed "bumper syndrome" a week after the extended warranty expired, when I type in the serial number it says expired (which makes sense to me based on when I bought it) but in "my devices" it says December 24th.

To be fair to Microsoft they were great as is my usual experience with their support and I'm sending it off for a replacement and they told me my warranty is indeed until December. Will be my 3rd Elite V2 though

I was thinking about picking one of these up at some point to.... What is the "bumber syndrome" design fault of somekind I'm guessing....

OK. Leave that one on the shelf for now then.

Yeah its disappointing after the issues of V1 that the same issues occur on the v2, i went through 3 v1s too, all issues with the bumpers failing. out of the box my first v2 had issues with the D-pad iirc so I returned it for a new one and now the bumpers playing up which was an issue rife on the V1. For the price you'd expect better tbh, it is great apart from.. that

Edit: reading the article reminded me it was indeed a sticky A button that caused me to return the first one I got. Wasn't aware problems were so widespread on the series 2 pad tbh

My brother has now decided he would like a Series S, which of course is typical now you won't be able to find a next-gen console for the rest of this year.

If anyone sees any please do post loudly in here. I've got that Stockinformer page open.

Very have some. Just got pinged by stockinformer

Forza Horizon 4 is pretty buggy, to the point that it can become unplayable, so I'd imagine it's just bug fixes for those issues just now.

Would be good to have patch notes available on the console, like there is on the PS4.

EDIT: Aha, the details have appeared on the Forza website. It's just a hotfix patch.

Spoiler

XBOX SERIES X/S SPECIFIC FIXES
Fixed a number of issues around changing languages
Fixed a number of issues where liveries were not being displayed in certain circumstances
Fixed a number of issues using Quick Resume
CROSS-PLATFORM FIXES
Minor back-end fixes

Got around to trying the Blu-ray player. It's quieter than my launch One X, but it's still audible. My Interstellar UHD disc strangely wasn't recognised, but the standard Blu-ray was, as was Skyfall UHD.

I use a Logitech Harmony and had seemingly set it up for the Series X. Only problem is that it controls the Series X and the One X (which is set up at the PC desk) at the same time. Something to watch out for.

With the few stories around the web and up here decided to use the drive in my X for the first time today. It worked on the blu-ray I tried in it (Blade Runner 2049). Not overly noisy - think it's the fact that the console is so quiet that you notice any noise from the drive! Anyhow that is that done. Probably won't get another disk in there until its upgraded now. :D

Explains why my custom paint job was always resetting to std after races etc!

I think this is because it is possible for games to support 120fps without being Optimized the formal way. Otherwise the game would also require to be on the internal SSD. So I guess this is a proper solution saving your precious disk space.

In that case I can move it to my external SSD.

Been absolutely rinsing Yakuza 7 so I haven't really had a chance to mess around with gp yet. Although I have installed about five games to try when I'm done. Bit annoyed I didn't go for something a bit shorter as my launch game tbh.

On the plus side I am actually playing games now, rather than just reading/watching them, which makes a nice change.

I’m sure this has been covered a million times, but what res and frame rate will Cyberpunk run at on the series X at launch (before the next gen patch)?

No one knows. I'd hope there's an uncapped framerate option, should mean whatever the highest res is will hit 60.

Halo Reach, 120 - yeah, I like that, I’m just rubbish at it when I’ve not set my controller up properly. I had tried it on the PC, but halo is a console game for me.

Avengers Endgame, UHD - it’s a UHD picture, but since I haven’t got an EARC soundbar (and therefore not a hdmi 2.1 pass through) the sound isn’t as great as it can be because I’m limited to Dolby digital Plus, rather than 7.1 uncompressed.

There’s also the expected low level of background disk noise. Games consoles: if you haven’t got an alternative, and/or you’re only playing  loud movies, they’ll play disks.

(it’s not really loud noise, or worse PS4 levels of noise, but it’s more than nothing).

I bought Bright Memory, not the best £7 I have ever spent. It looks terrible with its generic environments, crappy textures and 360 era character models. Awful performance as well with near constant screen tearing like I haven't experienced in a long time.

The gameplay is quite different, FPS that pushes you to chain combos using guns and knives and kinetic blasts (A bit like the recent Shadow Warrior games I suppose). The weapons felt a bit lame though, perhaps because the enemies just felt like bullet sponges.

So yeah, dont think I will be going back to it or buying the full price release next year.

Hadn't used my Series X in a few days for various reasons but it booting up from standby in about 4 seconds and then loading a game I hadn't played in about a week from quick resume in a few seconds still felt a bit like magic to be honest.

That's really the only next gen thing I've noticed really, not that I'm complaining. Though Gears Tactics looks quite amazing.
