Sorry to hear this. If it was me I’d be on the phone to Xbox support and demanding a replacement, they should be arranging a pick up for your current one and offer a replacement or repair. This is what the guarantee is for.

My One S had a fault and the process was really good, had it fixed and returned within a week.

If you bought your console from Argos, it isn't Microsoft's job to offer replacements to you.

Gears Tactics is blowing my mind visually. Cutscenes almost look like an animated film.

Loading is almost instantaneous too.

Have you played Gears 5?

Wait until you see that.

Yeah, it isn’t. It’s £25 on the Xbox store. There was a 15% off code on eBay not long ago so could have bought it for even less.

...I was trying to do a thing where the picture was clearly about the inflated cost of the consoles, but I pretended that I thought the picture was about the price of an indie game.

I've looked at AC Valhalla and Yakuza on the store and neither let you select the Standard edition of those games, only the Extra Expensive DLC I Don't Want versions.

Very sketchy, feel like if you click the button saying Choose Edition See All Versions it should show all versions. Feel like that could be breaking UK consumer law somewhere.

I could see the standard edition of Valhalla if I scrolled all the way down the page to the bottom - I didn't press the 'See All Versions' button. I ended up buying it from CDKeys instead for a tenner cheaper, which was an interesting experience. The code they gave me didn't seem to work in the Store on the console, but worked just fine when I logged into Xbox.com. Then the game didn't appear in my library anywhere on the Series X, so I had to use the phone app, type in 'Valhalla' into the games list and then ask it to download the game to my Xbox. It warned me it may have to charge me but it didn't go to a payment screen or anything, so I assume at that point it read that I owned the game. I don't know if I missed something obvious (though I've bought and redeemed digital games from outside the store a few times before on the Xbone), but it seems like Smart Delivery may be a bit glitched when you haven't downloaded the game at all yet. Still, it's happily sitting there on the download list now.

I think that's because they now don't charge through the app. You can pre download via the app, then when you want to play the game if you haven't bought it you get directed to the store. Obviously in your case your license from CD keys meant you weren't redirected.

Not the optimised version, that's at the end of my installation queue which is days long at this point lol. Have played some of it on the VCR One and even there it looked quite good, so can't wait.

With my xbox one x and my previous xbox one I really loved how just switching the xbox on also turned the tv and my virgin tivo box on, and just turning it off turned everything off. The xbox series x has lost the IR transmitter so I guess there's no way of doing this?

Just did a DiRT 5 side by side comparison with my other halfs. The loading times on the One X are abominable compared to the Series X. As for shinyness (both TVs 1080p) it's more difficult to tell the difference. The ground textures are a bit sharper, the reflections are a bit nicer but there doesn't seem too much in it. But the loading, man. Fuck me.

It does, doesn't use IR though. you have to enable the hdmi cec features in the system menu.

I’ve not seen gears tactics from a quick glimpse it looks similar type of game to Mario and rabbids is it? I never thought I’d like that but loved it on the switch

It is basically a clone of the modern Xcom games.

The Xbox Series X still has an IR receiver - it's just hidden in the controller pairing button.

Is there any way to force quit a game that's using quick resume? Other than starring multiple other games. Jedi Fallen Order was working perfectly, but Yakuza 7 just hanging on the splash screen.

Usually if you go to the icon in the quick menu and press start, there's an option to quit game.

So is there a setting somewhere to enable the IR connection to my Virgin Tivo box?
