I’m not sure it is. There’s maybe a few puddles more than you’d expect, but videos looking at raytracing are going to focus on scenes with lots of puddles. Many of the reflections (PC Ultra) can be quite subtle as well as in your face: a shadow of your reflection, rather than a perfect mirror.

Thats quite a roughness cutoff though.

Ubi games generally have poor hdr though. I hope next gen will see devs being better at this especially with dolby vision for games coming along. 

Fair enough, I thought Watch Dogs and AC were the same engine. Seems cruel to compare it to Division because the lighting in Snowdrop is absolutely superb, up there with RDR2 in my opinion.

 

Generally speaking I think HDR is badly implemented in most games, not just Ubi ones, but it's really well done in AC Odyssey specifically. I'm curious to see how Dolby Vision for gaming is supposed to work, I've worked in Dolby Vision before and I'm not really sure how that toolset is supposed to translate to something that's interactive. At a guess, the idea is that devs render their game in DV 1000 nits and the 100 nit SDR trim is generated from that, so they only need to focus on the HDR version and the SDR is 'automatic'.

This is a game, not a real life simulation. There's such things as artist licence you know.

Shame the artist license doesn't seem to have been given to the artists and instead given to the marketing department.

Having looked it up the badges I was thinking of were for the MS launch Teams only, not us mere plebs. They had badges for the OG Xbox, 360 and Xbone launches respectively.

So... I think I read that downloaded games can transfer over the network if I still have my One S connected to the network and on? Did I imagine that? That's my current plan for transferring all my downloads

Won't be as quick as USB drive but my router is pretty fast in theory.

Well there's a few possible reasons

 

1 - If you made it as busy as London 2019 it'd be an awful game, you'd never get anywhere.

2 - Most of that video is at night

3 - In the story of the game a LOT of people died, so London isn't as populous as it was anyway.

Yes it has 5ghz from a quick google.  Though I suppose for the big download-athon you could always plug it in to the ethernet and to a monitor while you leave it to download and just move it later...


Can you do a speed test with xboxes? I mean is there an app or means to do it? Mine is going to get wired into a homeplug. Though that said since we got mesh the homeplug is no faster than 5ghz wifi since we have a shit internet connection anyway. I think tomorrow's download times might be a little painful.

The One X has a internet connection test option in the settings and I'd be surprised if the Series X doesn't.

Stock informer have sent out a generic email about stores having stock from 8AM but some might have it at midnight, which isn't particularly helpful. John Lewis are the only ones confrimed in the email of having them go live at 8AM. And even then they might not.

Super helpful post, I know.
