Has anyone had to replace their dualshock 4 because the battery died completely? I don't know of anybody, my Dualshock 3's all still work as well, shit arguments are shit.

My original DS4 didn't die completely but didn't hold a charge. I took the plunge and swapped it over. Really easy to change. If I can do it, anyone can.

Finally got my cheap Gamepass access sorted, no thanks to CDkeys. Two of the three 12m XBL codes I ordered on Tuesday had not appeared by this morning so I asked for the missing ones to be cancelled. Lots of other people in social media having the same problems, and whilst CDkeys have not said anything publicly their email support says that people have been having issues accessing codes they have bought.

AO were much more efficient. They have become my retailer of choice for fridges and videogame download codes.

Gamertag is BossSaru, if anyone wants to add me. See you online in November, folks!

802GB of usable space on the Series X SSD once system files and OS are taken into account.

920GB on the expansion drive.

This makes me worry a bit about my s purchase. That's a potential 200 GB loss of space on a 512GB drive at worst??

Yeah I was thinking the same thing as I'm looking to get a Series S too...

Kind of annoying that they haven't sent out Series S preview models for these guys to try out at the same time.

I hope they'll release the S to journos sooner rather than later. I understand them wanting to open with the X, their benchmark console, but having pre-ordered its little brother, I would like to have extensive hands-on reports about just how compromised it is in comparison.

I don't have a 4K TV and I will be largely getting digital games anyway, so that doesn't bother me.

I just worry it won't be future-proofed enough, or it'll only run games in a reduced manner that makes the generational leap barely worth it.

Fortunately, I didn't own a Xbox One, so I'll still be able to catch up on stuff I've missed out on and games on Gamepass. I just hope the S turns out to be a leap forward rather than the Xbox One/ PS5 1.5 or something.

Looking at the list i suppose the most " next genny " thing is surely going to be Assassins Creed Viking Attack?

any chance of that on gamepass?

Nope not straight away it's Ubisoft.

Those HDD -> SSD transfer speeds are reassuring.

Considering the extortionate price of the expansion drive and the limited space on the internal SSD (especially for the Series S) it seems like shifting things back and forth between an external USB drive is going to become the de facto method for a lot of people.

That Verge video

On a plus side, the other videos have done nothing but increase my excitement for launch. I actually really like how the XSX looks, I don't even have somewhere to slot it into my IKEA Besta, it's going to have to sit on top. I also may have an Elite Series 2 controller coming today... oops.

Oh my. Not needing any developer input in order to see improvements like this is very impressive. Maybe the dream of better draw distance for the Orbs on Crackdown 3 isn't dead.

It's a $20-30 premium for the official expansion SSD right? Not great but the big test will be how quickly they drop in price compared to standard SSDs.

For those worrying about Hard Drive space, here's a bit about external USB storage from the following; https://venturebeat.com/2020/09/28/xbox-series-x-impressions/

Those are transfers say between internal SSD and external SSD rather than HDD.

The middle video above showed 60GB = about 15 minutes on the estimation screen, so realistically, 30 minutes as you'll want to move something off and another thing on.

Still not sure if that was HDD or SSD though.

USB3 external SSD are still pretty pricey...

I wouldn’t get overly excited. Microsoft have spoken about doing stuff on their end to make 30fps games run at 60fps, but without Microsoft or the dev doing something, the only games that will see this level of improvement are ones which don’t have a 30fps limit. From Software are the only clowns I can think of who seem to think letting their games bounce around between 30 and 50fps is a good idea, rather than locking to 30fps.
