Were you able to pay the pound now? Been trying all afternoon but the payment won’t go through. They said it’s a problem their end.

Yes, did it with PayPal and went through immediately.

Weird. Just tried and it’s not working for me. Says they’re unable to process payment. Tried multiple methods and no luck.

Log out and back in and also clear your cookies. Both those helped some this morning that were having issues making the payments for their pre orders.

Have you done this all via the app or on an Xbox one?

If I stick with the all access then I may as well do a year of gold then the £1 trick? Not the cheapest method but a saving...

Also, any news on an official charge dock? I love the Sony one for my PS4 and while I’ve seen the play and charge kit I’d prefer a dock.

Please anyone else add me, I've not had an Xbox for around 10 years, I have no friends :hmm:

So who had the best pre order experience?.

Sony  or Microsoft

I think they were both total shitshows, but Microsofts was worse for me as a) the stores had already seen what happened with PS5 and had a week to prepare, and b) Potentially mucking up people's credit ratings because of stock levels rather than people's actual ability to pay.

Really? I mean aside from Sony dropping the ball by not announcing when they were starting I reckon it was business as usual on the console pre-order front.

Yeah, preordering tied to credit checks was a recipe for disaster. Apart from the MS store buckling at precisely the moment preorders went live, because apparently even throwing Azure at it can't cope with a rush of gamers, it went through OK. I got an error trying to add it to my cart, but opening a new page on the actual cart itself was fine because it did show 1 in there.

I dunno, maybe you just can't scale up for this sort of thing. Same thing happens with popular concert tickets, I'm guessing.

The 3080 experience was far worse, pretty much no one got one and more pc component retailers were scalping than video game ones.

For ps5 I wasn’t waiting up all night and missed at 6.20am eventually getting one a few hours later.

Xbox, in the cart, through the checkout, done.

After a week of failure for me in terms of buying new tech (which sickens and appals me), I feel slightly disappointed in myself. After stopping myself from buying an X early this morning (in what I now term as 'non-buyer's remorse'), I have failed to buy a PS5, Xbox and a new GPU.

What makes it marginally worse is that it was all budgeted for a while ago, and the money was in the account for both machines and - because the price of the 3080 was considerably lower than I thought it was going to be, I probably could have gone for the holy trinity.

I end up with nothing.

I am a sorry soul.

All I see is the splash screen of a Dark Souls telling me 'You've Died'.

Of course, the plus side of this is that my car is going in for a service and MOT tomorrow, and sod's law will be that something will be terribly wrong with the bastard, so I'll at least have some cash to sort that out ;) .

Being a grown up sucks :P

The names they’ve gone for are incredibly silly and will invariably lead to confusion, particularly at the casual end of the market. If the One S is still being shipped come November, someone is doing a bad job at Microsoft. They’ve managed to make Wii U seem like an unambiguous name by comparison.
