Just for clarity, as I don’t want to be seen as an evil, scalping capitalist. I only wanted one Series X but this morning’s clusterfuck online meant that when my first order crashed, I bought another. The Series S is for junior Stoph.

You've probably got a mountain of bog roll in the house as well :P

Nice to see that Game are also charging £9.99 for delivery or (wait for it)................

Collection!!!

The absolute scalpers. This is like ticket agencies charging you £2.50 for delivery or £1.25 to print at home. And even they don't have the brass neck to charge the same for both!

Has everyone who just tried on Smyths with XAA been declined? It's a bit puzzling as, outside my mortgage application, I've got a pretty good credit rating.

I got declined after waiting in GAME queue this morning. I just bought a new car yesterday on finance and I have had a couple of other things go through recently so I assumed they rejected because of that - usually I am never declined.

Bit annoyed at the hard check on my credit record for no reason now humph.

I think Klarna might be a soft check.

I checked my TransUnion/Credit karma account afterwards snd it's flagged as a soft check for me anyway.

I was declined and my credit rating is excellent, so.

Looks like I am keeping my Amazon preorder and stocking up on Live Gold codes!

It came up as a hard check for me.

It's definitely a hard check, I got a notification from Credit Karma.

I got a console in the end - albeit not paying for it in the manner I wanted to - so fine with that. What I am annoyed about is the hard check on my credit record for which I am getting nothing at all

Game and Smyths both rejecting All Access pre-orders, only available for upgrades, what a shitshow.

I somehow got one this morning without being an existing customer before the site died, but it looks like that window has slammed shut. I can’t believe that these retailers and Microsoft were so ridiculously ill-prepared.

How can we make ourselves more relevant as software sales move to online purchases and online retailers increase their market share. I know! Lets increase our delivery charges and make people pay for the privilege of coming into the store, queuing, and carrying their purchase home!

I instantly got an email from Credit Karma flagging it as a hard check. Fuck knows what the criteria is for this though; I was accepted even though I spend every month juggling my credit like a hot potato to avoid paying interest. I only went for All Access to buy me a bit of extra time to offload my existing consoles so that I can pay the bulk of it off.

hard check here and yes notification from creditkarma AND clearscore noted it.

Interesting I managed to buy a car on pcp yesterday without any sort of hard check (and a couple of other credit based things/renewals this month). First hard check on my credit records for a number of years.

pfft.

They know time's up. They're going to grab what they can before they close up shop for good.

Weird, no emails for me. Screenshot of my Credit Karma account. So maybe the soft search found something which indicated I was not worth bothering with a hard search? lol.

If I was a cynical person*, it may seem like they don't bother with people with good credit histories, but can probably make more from piling on interest to people who they suspect are more likely to default.

Although I'm sure Game, being such bastions of retail, would never partner with anybody like this...

*Yes, I was declined with a hard search.  Have an excellent credit history and never been declined before.  Seems odd.

To counter this, I was also turned down and I have a terrible credit rating.

I think it’s Microsoft they partnered with. If it was GAME, they’d have partnered with BrightHouse or someone else who you have to sign over your first born to for a toaster.
