It's about games. Xbox got no games.

Tomorrow should to put that to an end. We don't just want games, we want games to get excited about, games you itch to get back to when you can't. Games that become your favourite game. Games that you remember decades later.  Games that you still play decades later. I know it won't be an hour of games aimed at me. I'm way out the demographic that they are aiming for. If they want everyone to talk about this show for weeks to come and not be eclipsed by a tweet tomorrow from Sony with a GTA6 logo, it better have some big surprises. I know all the rumoured stuff but I want some crazy drop the motherfuckin' Mic surprises. I'm not saying I'm owed anything, I had a great generation (6 Forzas:lol:) I just know they can do much better.

What we’ll get in practice is “pyschonauts is multi platform, grounded doesn’t look as good as TLOU2 (despite different genre, small team, eighteen months), yawn forza, yawn halo, yawn upcycled gears”

Heh, I had a similar moment with my wife over dinner. She asked if that "game thing" was tomorrow. So I start explaining how exciting it all is because Microsoft was teasing pictures that make it look like the new Halo would be like the first Halo. And the first Halo was brilliant and my favourite and then I noticed she couldn't care less and was just listening to me to humor me. So I said "to sum up, yes, it's tomorrow" "Thank you, then I know you won't be joining us for dinner"

I’m pretty damn excited. Looking forward to some titles from the studios that MS bought... including maybe WB Games. And hopefully this will lead to a more rounded portfolio than just shooting and driving, good though I expect Halo and Forza to look.

Me too, I'm down for a new Halo but I would rather see new titles than a bunch of sequels and exhumed old IP.

This will be a failure in my opinion if they only show things like State of Decay, Forza, Hellblade and Battletoads.

Less sequels, more originals, please.

Yeah, there's no way a purchase like WB would be kept under wraps.

Or could be.

It's also a dodgy purchase: with any games entirely dependent on other people's licenced IP (DC, lego, harry potter etc.).

I enjoyed Fable 1&2, but the world is incredibly generic and there’s very little depth to the RPG mechanics. If they really must use the franchise, I really hope they change it completely.

I disagree with the first part - it feels like a python-esque version of England as an RPG - hardly "generic".

Actually I disagree with the whole thing... depth in mechanics?  Can we not have rpg-lite games? so they all have to have deep rich (boring) systems... From Fable I just want a simple system where I get more powerful with BIGGER spells that do more damage. Fable 2 was the perfect RPG-lite system to me.

I've seen some people talking up the idea of turning Fable into a Witcher-like experience and that seems like a waste to me. They've never fully managed to realise the potential of the world reflecting your good and evil choices. I'd like to see them go back to what Lionhead were originally promising and try to deliver on that.

It’s today! Happy Showcase day everyone! :omg::omg::omg:

Waits for MS to take a sawn off shotgun to both feet at 5pm and the inevitable "WTF have they been doing for the last few years?etc"

Sony had a pretty bad showing, so It would be nice to get a surprise this evening.

Agreed - why is there an obsession with distilling down game genre so that all games should aspire to be the same as some pre-determined "best" example of the genre. Oh they should make Zelda more "souls-like" - they should make "focused level based game" open world - RPGs should be more Witcher-like.

We lose so much variety in games by triangulating them to be like the "best" of a genre.

And if you gave me the choice I'd play Fable 2 over pretty much most RPGs including Witcher.

Buying a brand like that is buying the IP. No deal on the IP? It's just some offices and employees who could all jump ship. No sale.

people said the good/evil stuff was too simplistic but it gave you alot of latitude in terms of achieving goals. The dark side got incredibly dark as you tested there it seems Purin :D

So the story was focused but your personal character path was your own.

I know there's a few dead certs and there have been plenty of rumours, but I'm surprised we haven't had any concrete leaks yet. They've done well to keep it all under wraps. It definitely makes it more exciting wondering what they might show.
