Xbox Series X | S

It's true, my one x was full in one day just from gamepass games, still about ten more I'd like to download but can't.

I'm looking forward to seeing how fast the ssd makes things, some of the load times on one x are very excessive

You can delete some and install those other games you want to play, you know? :P

If either of the manufacturers guaranteed 60fps in all games at a minimum, even if I had to run it in 1080p, I'd buy that console in a heartbeat.

I said something similar in the PS5 thread:

The thing is, I’m not sure if 60fps can really be marketed in the same way that higher resolutions can; on the other hand, as resolutions increase the differences may be less noticeable to the average consumer...

I thought 60fps coming to YouTube might make a difference, but it didn’t seem to.

Read on VG247 that production of One variants is wrapping up, lots of retailers mark them discontinued or out of stock. Makes sense, if the Series S is positioned where we think it will be.

Hopefully we can order the damn thing after the 23rd.

That would surely mean that the Series S is pretty reasonably priced - like, £300-£350?

That is a very compelling vision to be sure. Microsoft are really doing everything right this time.

Yeah, hard to complain about any of that. It's not the stealth means of putting a media box under the TV of last gen, for sure.

Big Phil smashing it out the park again. The value of Game Pass Ultimate really is just a game changer now. Online gaming, a catalogue of first party games on day one, third party games cycling through the catalogue and now the ability to play those first party games anywhere you want to on your mobile device. Take my money Phil, please and thank you.

I'm increasingly convinced that they are going to make this free when the Series X/S launch. It's the biggest remaining move they can make to get people to choose Xbox over PlayStation and Live is free on other platforms already.

It’s our intent for all Xbox One games that do not require Kinect to play on Xbox Series X at the launch of the console. And because of the unprecedented power of Xbox Series X, most of your favorite games will load faster and look and perform many times better on the new console.

That is an upgrade on the previous assertion that thousands would be playable at launch - now he is saying that they intend to get them all working (well unless you like waving to a camera :D )

At any other point something like that would sound like ridiculous hyperbole but if Microsoft have shown anything in recent years it's that they're willing to alter course, and probably at great cost. I don't see how Ultimate can make them money with Live, Game Pass AND X Cloud. It's ridonkulous. I'm probably not in day one still but it's going to be very interesting to watch how the launches play out.

I'll put the on-demand video into the first post of this thread as soon as it is available next Thursday so rllmukers who are unable to watch live can easily access and enjoy the show:)

by Aaron Greenberg, General Manager, Xbox Games Marketing

The day you’ve been waiting for is nearly here: On Thursday, July 23 at 5pm BST, we’ll be giving you a closer look at the future of gaming with the Xbox Games Showcase, including world premieres and updated looks at some of the games we’ve already revealed. And yes, that includes your first-ever look at campaign gameplay from Halo Infinite.

Xbox Game Studios is pushing the industry forward with a huge variety of games, all of which support services and features that put the player first, including Xbox Game Pass and Smart Delivery.

What’s more, our celebration of all things Xbox games will start with a Summer Game Fest pre-show beginning at 4pm BST. Tune in for reveals, predictions, insights from YouTube creators, and more on some already-announced titles coming to Xbox. Hosted by Geoff Keighley, the Xbox Games Showcase pre-show will air on YouTube Gaming.

You’ll be able to watch the Xbox Games Showcase in a variety of ways. You can tune-in on:

YouTube.com/Xbox for a 1080p/60fps livestream and 4K/60fps VoD immediately after

Twitch.tv/Xbox

Facebook.com/Xbox

Twitter.com/Xbox

If you can’t make it, don’t worry: you can check out highlights immediately following the show or view the whole Xbox Game Showcase on-demand soon after it airs.

We’ll see you next week!

They must have a lot to say next week  if they're putting that out as just a letter from Phil.

That's the sort of announcement I would expect at the end of an E3 kind of thing.  That for me is mic drop type stuff.   Surprised they've announced it this early.

I'm a bit of a risk averse wuss.  I'd have put it on the end of the games showcase just in case the rest of it didn't land with people.

Finally, today we’re announcing that this September, in supported countries, we’re bringing Xbox Game Pass and Project xCloud together at no additional cost for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members.

Even more value for that £1 upgrade!

That's a really solid announcement in fairness, and a great counter for the "this is for the players" messaging from Sony over the years. It feels like they have nailed their vision (and more importantly the right vision compared to last time round) and are bringing it to life. I just hope we see some absolutely top notch titles in a week to strength the comparatively weak exclusives list.

Ironically though it probably makes it even less likely I'll buy a new console from them in the short term as I know can play everything on my Xbox One, xCloud devices and £1 Game Pass (including all the new first party titles) for a while I play PS5 exclusives on the new hardware despite being bought into the whole idea. It's a bizarre world we live in.

Same for me. I suppose MS don't really care about which machine I use my Game Pass sub on, only that I eventually re-subscribe (in 2023 lol), but it does mean I'm a bit more likely to go with the PS5 in the first year.

At least he didn't say "gameplay" so he can't get roasted when the show is full of trailers and cut-scenes.

I'm intrigued what the studios they've acquired have been working on that I'll be able to enjoy on my One X.
