Now that there's a demo out (until tomorrow at least) it's probably worth it's own topic.

RPS did a write up here. https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2020/08/29/elusive-fox-adventure-tunic-is-playable-this-weekend/

And it's a surprisingly chill Zelda like. I don't know that it's doing anything special but it feels special.

I love the art direction, but after seeing the trailer... What would you say is exactly "chill" about the game?

In some ways, I wish that they'd made a Zelda game but without the combat--like a mix of Monument Valley and Zelda.

The art direction and the music.

I've tried the demo now. It's quite short but you get a good enough feel for the game. My lazy shorthand would be "isometric Zelda with a roll" - you run around, chop bushes, smash pots, enter small combat arenas, collect health pickups, navigate hazards, etc. Certain rooms are pretty challenging since you don't have a lot of health and there aren't many opportunities to top up, and death sends you back to the last statue thing you visited. That said, the demo area doesn't have painfully long runs to get back to where you were, so it's all good.

Anyone tried the new demo?

So far for me it’s kind of 2d Zelda only what if it was really hard and slightly dark soulsy.

Perhaps not quite what I was expecting but it’s definitely charming and interesting. Somewhat lacking in puzzles so far and fuck knows how you kill that bone monster that swipes you in a single hit.

Colour me continuing to be interested in the full game (but hope that the dungeon design steps up a bit as it moves on).

Came here to ask just this, wondering if anyone had beat it. I might try to use the freezing bombs from the dungeon on it later.

My only concern with this title is if it will ever direct you helpfully where to go. One of the biggest things that put me off Souls games are the stories that you can wander off in entirely the wrong direction for proper progression and not know about it for hours.

Has anyone heard anything more about this game? It’s supposed to be out on Wednesday and I can find very little about it anywhere.

I thought there’d be more buzz considering it’s taken about 24 years to come out.

The official Twitter feed says it's still due on Wednesday. A load of people have committed to streaming it.

I thought it was a Game Pass game, but apparently not.

Cheers. That’s something at least. Shame there’s no impressions about.
