DC Megathread

Yeah but is an elseworld like a multiverse or is it like a gaiden. I’m guessing it’s the latter.

Edit - To be clear I’m not at all confused about how this will work narratively, I’m just trying to figure out the cosmology seeing as all these media conglomerates want to pretend everything is some sort of logically coherent canon simultaneously in a perverse ontological construct.

So is this the Supergirl that will carry on in Gunn’s movie or is this another one and done casting?  I am confused with the trailer how much is being reset and if it changes again if this movie makes a billion dollars and the superman movie doesn’t.

This is the final Snyderverse movie. This Kara should have nothing to do with Gunn’s DCU corner of the multiverse unless the box office does something very silly.

A few more shots in the actual Super Bowl spot.

And you should try and keep the main DC comic continuity straight in your head for shits and giggles.

It's even worse.

The latest entry in Riteish Babu's series of articles about DC's Crisis events contains a nice example of that:

Try and read that above panel and parse it. See if that makes any goddamn sense to a normal reader who just wants a cool comic. Consider who that is really for. What manner of reader is that written for? It’s not any sane reader who cares about meaningful stories. It’s written for the most insular wiki-head, the most absurd lore-obsessed people, not any reasonable person with discerning comics taste. It’s the DC Universe/Multiverse/Omniverse/takeyourpick equivalent of Hawkman’s history or Donna Troy’s existence. It’s the most ‘who cares’ material written by people desperately out of touch, who’ve forgotten why any of us ever cared about these things to begin with. It wasn’t this convoluted ‘No, let ME explain and FIX DC and tell you how it all ACTUALLY works’ one-upsmanship contests they call ‘comics.’

I heard over the weekend that Christian Bale may be coming back as Batman, and that supposedly they're editing The Flash right now to downplay Keaton's Batman at the end but imply Bale's Batman might be back.

God knows if that is true but I saw two articles that said the above.

The shot of Batman on a bike in this trailer looks like it might be Bale, that’s certainly more like his bike than one Keaton Batman would ride.

If Barry travels back to save his mum he inadvertently creates a new timeline (BTTF2 style) where things have gone wrong so when he returns Keatons batman has replaced Affleks (as they should be different people). What I'm not sure of is why Kara would be the Kryptonian on earth, as Clark would surely already be a boy in Smallville by the time Barry changed everything.

Wait hang on, what the fuck could he have done back in his mother’s lifetime that would result in Thomas and Martha Wayne having a child who not only looked completely different but is twenty years older? Does he accidentally shoot Mr Wayne’s testicles with radiation, kill off the Affleck swimmer and give the rest some seriously bad advanced aging problems?

I am now fascinated by this movie.

What’s going on with Miller at the moment? WB must be desperate if they’re quite happy with his lol sorry from last year.

On Wikipedia, they still say the temporary order of protection for Tokata Iron Eyes is unserved because they couldn’t locate Miller? I’d imagine he’s more locatable now?

I liked this write up from Rolling Stone

The film was originally scheduled for release on July 1, 2022, but was delayed while Warner Bros. figured out whether or not to release it in the wake of star Ezra Miller’s reign of off-screen terror.

Miller, as you may have read, had been accused of grooming and brainwashing a number of young people, housing children in their gun-filled Vermont residence, was arrested a number of times in Hawaii for a series of alleged public disturbances and assaults, and believed they were the Messiah being chased by demons.

But the film has been testing very high so… Warner Bros. decided to put money over morals and release it anyway.

Lots of top-class lawyers protecting them, I imagine. Disgraceful.

Hasn't there been some reshoots since then too? I wonder if they've rejigged the ending to get rid of Miller.

Give Grant a rest for a while. Let him go off and dance before his knees give out. That said I look forward to the Arrowverse folk coming back in 20 years as elder statespeople.

Sounds like we’ll see The Ayer Cut™ eventually.

Arrowverse's Marc Guggenheim is upset that Gunn and Safran didn't call him at all. He thinks that all his effort, especially in putting together the bigger crossovers like Crisis on Infinite Earths, should at least merit a meeting with them about maybe working in the new DC stuff. But nothing. Now he feels like he's wasted years of his life making this stuff that's not generated any other work for him. Diddums.
