I'm a few episodes deep into 2nd series and loving it. I really hope this doesn't get shitcanned, it's one of my fave shows of the last couple years. 

 

I will say though, did anyone else notice the really bad, almost mid 90s c&c red alert cut scene cgi used during the first episode? It was a panning shot of the new environment and Atheist ship. Not sure what that was about, I've always thought the imagery was pretty decent in the first series and so far this series.

I also was totally gutted when i realised I did not have two episodes to go :( Especially with that ending.

Also agree the CG was terrible.

But still really enjoyed it.

Really enjoyed the second series. Bizarre and weird show in all the right ways for me.

The veil enveloping Mother's body towards the end was dizzying, almost suffocating stuff. The scenes with the veiled Grandmother surrounded by glowing analytical tubes were absolutely gorgeous. This show's aesthetics are streets ahead of most contemporary SF shows and movies. 

 

What are the odds HBO Max will stick with it? The fact it's on there gives me a little bit of hope for its continuing.

The 'used to be a battle droid' trope could have been done in a really tired way, with her sprouting tactical attachments or whatever. But in line with the sci-fi horror feel to the whole show, nope, she turns into a hellish screaming banshee that looks like a Giger design. It's great.

 

They do sort of hint at an explanation towards the end of the series which starts a thread I'm interested in hearing more of. But I don't think it necessarily needs it.

 

 

Just getting caught up with this now that Season 2 is out and with a couple episodes of Season 1 to go I'm really enjoying it. Its subtle and very deliberate in its pacing, which is refreshing given some of the absolute nonsense that has been spun out in recent years. On the point above around the Necromancer concept...

Its no coincidence that the Mithraic created a machine that takes the form of Jesus on the cross when it flies. Its entirely in line with the culture and religion that we are being shown, albeit Sol and the Mithraic being an evolved version of Christianity from what I can gather. Even the way in which the Necromancer attacks, essentially using the 'voice of God' is again in line with the quite extreme symbolism and belief system that the Mithraic have.  The visual indulgences of her design are completely pointless from a tactical perspective but I think that is a huge aspect of the Mithraic in general.

 

Apologies if that has been covered since but its where I'm at in my breakdown of the madness that is going on so you will have to just deal with it for the next week or so :)

It's about fucking time we started to boycott series that don't end each season at a finish point - just in case they get cancelled.  Too many shows end their seasons on cliffhangers all the time, like this did.

 

As it is now I don't start watching a season of anything from America until it's finished (Game of Thrones was the exception) in case it gets cancelled mid season.

Is it popular? I’ve only ever watched it pirated, I’ve no idea how you get to watch it in the UK.

 

It will be a shame if it never carries on as it’s amazing, but if it ends now we’ve had two brilliant series which were a complete surprise, and it was never going to make any real sense anyway so the story may as well end as it did!
