Good to see that the MOTM in the two semi-finals were part of Leicester's title winning team. Mahrez yesterday, Kante today.  They were both majestic.

There's few better sights in football than watching Mahrez take down a long pass. His first touch is elite.

Sky or BT will probably give Mount man of the match for that but it's been Kante, he's created a huge amount including both goals.

He's brilliant. I think he'd walk into an XI of his generation. Maybe not the sexiest position on the pitch but he has it mastered.

Like Makalele before him Kante will only really be fully appreciated at the end of his career when teams are all frantically searching for somebody to play the Kante role. You can have all the £100m galacticos you want but teams have always needed somebody to do the graft and get the ball to the supposedly more talented players.

Tuchel the first manager to reach consecutive CL finals with different teams.

Any sane organisation would move the CL final now to England, you can't have 8,000 fans flying out to Turkey for the match, its madness. Almost certain though UEFA won't move it and we'll have 3 weeks of stories about fan quarantines and the like. It will be madness to let fans travel in those number at this point in time.

Pretty sure Kante is fully appreciated now and he's not some secret that only a select few have noticed. Everyone understands his brilliance.

Agree with this. He was fully appreciated after a few games of the 2015/16 season when he started playing for us. Ranieri originally didn't put him in the starting line-up but once he did he was pretty much undroppable. Steve Walsh, our Head of Recruitment at the time put it best - "We play Danny Drinkwater in the middle and Kante either side of him."

I watched all our games this season and he was incessant. Watching him live in a stadium is even more illuminating, the guy just does not stop. He's far more gifted on the ball than always comes across and he's rapid too. I adore the bloke. Didn't get signed to a professional club until he was 19. On joining Leicester he bought himself a second-hand Mini Cooper. When France won the World Cup he was too shy to ask to hold the trophy on his own, so Stephen N'Zonzi sorted it out for him.

Oh he's not a secret, but I think if you asked a hundred lads to name a World XI there'd be a surprising amount overlook him. Like Redondo and Makalele previous it's something in the position.

Thats my point - if you had a fan poll now for top 10 premier league players in last 10 years I'm sure Kante wouldn't get many votes, part of that is social media profiles of certain players and clubs (Van Dyke would get in for 1 good season, Ozil would mobilise his fans etc) - and no I'm not saying VVD is shit.

Amongst the football hipsters and those who watch the game a little more closely than goals and assists stats he's of course not a secret, I just think the wider football fanbase always tend to overlook the importance of players like him, the water carriers as Cantona would put it.

I know recently the UK has started to ignore things like the rule or law or respecting biding agreements, but it's still valued elsewhere.

The UEFA are reckless and cunty enough already without alienating every single one of their partner.

Edit : I'm not having a go at you Gotters, my tone is all over the place. Sorry.

Turkey is not a country you can currently travel to from the UK unless its essential (I suspect this falls outside the terms of essential)

If there is any pretence at being for the fans then the final of the top competition in the midst of this pandemic should not take place in a country where none of them can get to.

It's not like its going to be a permissible full house and a travel/tourism boom anyway - I'm sure UEFA could bung the Turkish FA a few quid to get the game amicably moved, or give them the next final (or one in the next few years).

I don't disagree that it would be better for fans, but it's not just a question of a few quids. It's higly political - even more so with autocrats like Erdogan - and the UEFA does do politics - contrary to what it wants us to believe.

And it seems that travel will be possible from the 17th of may.

This Turkey thing is just fucking madness, forget football or the idiots that run it or would actually look to fly out - its utterly irresponsible after the efforts everybody has made to get covid under control.

Turkey entered a nationwide full lockdown last week which will last until May 17 in order to try and reduce the number of COVID-19 cases.

Turkey logged 336 COVID-19-related deaths and 31,891 new cases in the last 24 hours, Health Ministry data showed on Wednesday.

As detailed in The Times on Wednesday, it is believed that the Ataturk Olympic Stadium will host about 25,000 fans — or one-third of its capacity.

We're talking about 25,000 spectators with 8,000 flying in only 12 days after a national lockdown may get lifted, a lockdown that has only been on for a few weeks so cases will still be high.

Unless you literally cattle in fans on sealed fan only planes and bus them into the ground its insane to have thousands making their own way over

I think everyone agrees but not that Kante is overlooked - motd have picked him out with post game analysis and clips what seems like dozens of times, more than fancier attacking players.

The majority of Sarri's time at Chelsea was everyone confused at him playing Kante advanced when everyone regarded him as the best defensive midfielder in the world. Even though he did show good attacking instinct as well, and some well taken goals. With France winning the world cup too after back to back premier leagues with 2 clubs, people see Kante as the difference.

I looked for a 'best premier league players of the decade' list and mirror have one from October 2019. Kompany is the most overrated player in the fucking world (at 3), but apart from that the list seems alright. Kante is at 12.

Overlooked would be someone like Kovacic. Probably one of Europe's most consistent midfielders but isn't talked about. Kind of similar to Wijnaldum but the last few years everyone has been giving him credit, especially after the Barcelona comeback.

With regards to covid and football, in hindsight, international travel for football looks like a bloody stupid thing.  Nuno told the press at the weekend what an effect covid has had on the Wolves squad this season.  Apparently the recent Burnley game is where it really caught up with them.  Neves, Saiss, and Boly in particular have all caught it this season I believe, and Boly in particular is really suffering.

He's out of action now with long covid, apparently he's in a bad way, suffering heart palpatations and a general lack of energy that's rampant throughout the squad.

The players have all picked up the virus on international duty I believe.

So yes, going to Turkey seems mental.
