So another question - it's easy to spend other peoples money.  Would YOU spend 70% of your net wealth buying a football club?  Not running it, not improving it, not including transfer budget, simply BUYING it.  70% of your own net wealth.

If it was the club I support - without a moment's hesitation. Furthermore, I'd give enough of that ownership away to ensure it couldn't fall into the wrong hands after my passing.

I mean, in fairness I support a club that is worth an awful lot of money, so that outstanding 30% of my net wealth would still be eye-watering. Let's make it more interesting then and say I would spend whatever I had, even if the outcome was me having to work a desk job there to get by after the fact.

But surely unless you want a sportswashing sugar daddy with an iffy human rights record to gloss over, anyone buying Man Utd is going to be doing the same leveraged buyout style shit anyway? It's like that Spotify bloke who allegedly wants to buy Arsenal - why is he magically going to be any different to Kroenke? It just seems like the horse bolted long, long ago on all this ownership stuff.

Exactly.  The only reason that Man Utd aren't hoovering up every trophy is that their main competition doesn't give a shit about money.  The club is being run as a business, against petro-chemical states, Russian oligarchs and two Spanish clubs that operate as if they have an infinite money cheat code.  Whoever comes in - and let's face it, it isn't happening because the Glazers ain't selling - is going to be even worse.

Then, and don't take this the wrong way, you will never be in a position to do so.

and to go back to the owner debate and Arsenal fans frothing at Ek cos he's not a Kroenke this is a bloke that screws the artistes who generate all of the content he sells and then pushes for an EU investigation into the company that makes the actual devices and OS that a large chunk of his empire is sold via and played on.

anybody who thinks a cunt like this is going to care about a few people waving scarves and having a pint in the Tollington before games is deluded, especially when he's had to borrow most of the money to buy the club at an inflated price either secured against that club, or his stock holding in what made him a billionaire in the first place.

All this talk about clubs being owned by enterprises or individuals reminds me of schoolyard queries about whether you'd rather snog your sister or your mother. The only sane answer is neither, but the implicit rules of the game dictate sanity is left at the door.

Naughty City - both pen areas not been equally cleared of hail (John) stones.

Would the ground staff have known which end the teams were playing from at the point they were clearing the boxes?

Clubs tend to play a certain way unless ‘turned around’

Would swear now they’ve turned on the under pitch heating at the end they’ll be attacking in second half, rest of pitch still covered.

Can't see either Chelsea or Madrid beating City in the final. So they can finally join Europe's elite.

Chelsea easily contained them when they met in the FA Cup. I think City would prefer Madrid in the final because if they get through I think Chelsea will win it.
