Can I add an end to COVID 19, Brexit actually turning out to be good for the economy and Manchester United not getting another fucking bullshit penalty against us?  If we have to only have realistic options then I’ll just take the first two.

Fuck me, just watched the pogba dive. Two games running United have cheated a penalty out of Villa.

I didn’t watch the game, but I expect VAR must have looked at that for a good five minutes or at least advised the ref to go to the monitor, right?

State of this salty crap  Defender was all over him and then clipped his leg. At least it makes up for the Mings elbow that VAR didn't even bother to look at eh?

Like I say, I didn’t watch the game, so I didn’t see the Mings incident, I’ll try and find it, but from what I saw it wasn’t a penalty and Villa have every right to be annoyed.

Again.

Edit:- dive is the wrong word, looked like Pogba clipped his own heel, soft penalty from what I saw.

Dive is definetly the wrong word as the defender was all over him and then clipped Pogbas foot.

The penalty is soft as shit, but that is what you get at Old Trafford. VAR looked at it for about 15 seconds.

It was a pretty appalling referee performance all round. Luke Shaw racked up enough fouls to be booked about 4 times over. Lo and behold he did eventually get a booking about 5 minutes from time. Matic did the same. Fernandes had a couple as well.

Just add it to the list of appalling refereeing against Manchester United for Villa. Penalty last year where Fernandes jumps onto Konsa and gets a pen, presumably for the audacity of wearing a red shirt and asking for one... Vidic in the League Cup final... Etc etc

The defender clipped Pogba's left leg, which caused Pogba's left leg to kick the back of his right leg, tripping him. Have none of you people ever seen a tap-tackle in rugby?

Nah, was a dive mate.

Worst of all was Pogba not being sent off for assaulting Mings elbow with his face.

From the clips I’ve seen it looks ridiculously slight, if that’s worth a game changing shot from 12 yards we have a problem in the game.

As always the biggest problem is the inconsistency. We can probably all point to more stonewall calls this season that haven’t been given or even looked at that makes this foul look like nothing.

Haha, you can see what you want to see but this is a 'contact sport' not an 'any contact is a foul', sport.

Another pen....money well spent.

I kind of think the defender was a touch unlucky as he didn't clatter Pogba, and probably didn't intend to trip him, but it was the defender's little kick on Pogba that tripped him. Pogba was in control of the ball in the area and the defender's action caused him to fall. It's not as if Pogba threw himself to his floor, he couldn't have stayed on his feet. I understand that you are frustrated, but it's a clear penalty. It's not even soft.

Haven't any of you guys played football? I don't mean at any kind of decent level, just in the park or something? If someone trips you, that's a foul. It doesn't matter how hard they kick you. "Contact sport" as a excuse. Good grief.

If it were Salah going down the comments sections would be out for blood.

Soft yes, but ref gave a penalty and that is never getting overturned. I dislike Manchester United as much as the next person, but no arguments with Oliver awarding that. Besides if Villa could head a ball, they'd have won that game 4-2.

It’s really odd, reading this and looking at the clip, it’s like you’re talking about a separate incident, United are on a great run, doing well, but that is a soft call and they’ve had some luck and it’s ok to admit it, it doesn’t take anything away from the 12 men Ole put out today.

And I played loads of football, bloody miss it.

It looks to me, since the Christmas/New Year schedule that VAR isn't getting involved as much in those kind of decisions, if it isn't a clear and obvious error they aren't scrutinising it. Which is exactly how the rule should be implemented.

I haven't seen the incident.

:coffee: course not

It’s not mate, for instance, I realise the officials had an opportunity to give United a penalty against Wolves this week with the Coady hand ball and waved it away, but the balance of how they use VAR is infuriating.

You can take similar incidents and have no idea what the outcome is, which really shouldn’t be he case. Maybe you’re right that this was a legit foul, but there will have been incidents like this in other games waved away.

I realise that will come under clear and obvious, but in my opinion, the use of the tech needs work, and this incident is just a highlight of that to me.

Oh well. We never get anything from Manchester United but we can leave the ground head held high tonight. It took a soft penalty to beat us, and but for a little more luck we take something from that game.

2 years ago we were in trouble in the Championship. Tonight we went to the team we struggle most with, a team in form, and more than held our own, and are angry not to come away with anything.
