Super Play magazine valuation

Recommended Posts

We’re hoping to move house soon, so I’m considering selling my complete set of Super Play magazines. I have all the standard issues, Super Play Gold and the recent issue through Retro Gamer. Single issues on eBay seem to average between £5-20. Would anybody care to suggest a value for the lot?

The retro magazine market is a really odd one now. It's beginning to mirror the game one, where there is a lot of unrealistic prices (based on  'things') with each subsequent auction/bin bumping the price a little higher and nothing actually selling.

I very rarely buy lots (and only then probably an issue count of 3-5 because it was a good deal and I was missing all the issues) but I can understand selling the whole collection is the easiest method. Just bear in mind obviously that you wouldn't get anything like the value for it that you would if you sold singularly or in far smaller lots.

Anyway, if the mag conditions are good, I'd take a guess at £500-600? With make an offer and pick up turned on. See how that goes. (I personally would baulk at that price, but hey might as well see if there are any takers) I might be totally wrong in my valuation though! Super Play isn't my area of expertise. If possible, I'd definitely recommend selling smaller lots of a year to 6 months each.

Will be interesting to hear other forumites valuations. You should also probably ask for advice on any applicable Facebook groups.

Thanks. I too would be interested in any other opinions. That does seem like a lot of money, but then at the same time I don’t know if I would be keen to shift them on if I was only going to get, say £100.

I’m not really a facebook regular, would you are to recommend any suitable groups to join?
