Now that both the big boys have shown off their consoles and even more importantly their games, which console do you imagine you'll get first? I've tried to keep the poll simple, so this could be the console you get two years from now or on day one.

For me, i already own an Xbox One X and see zero reason to upgrade that to a series X. If anything im way more inclined now to get a PS5, it'll have games like Astrobot i can't get anywhere else, the new controller stuff is interesting but really the biggest reason is changing from a One X to a Series X i don't think will feel any different. So why not get the best of both worlds by picking up a PS5 first and then if there becomes a reason to upgrade to a Series X like games that only exclusively run on it then that's something i can do at a later date.

I'm lucky in that I can afford both, but I'm waiting for an all black version of the PS5 - there's no way I'm having that monster in my living room. So I'll be getting the Series X first.

Definitely PS5 to start, just love their output and I’ve got loads of digital purchases I’d like to continue playing. Intrigued by a combination of Series S and Gamepass down the line though - that’s a very nice looking proposition.

I'll be getting a PS5, but probably at least a year after release, once some of the better exclusives are out. I won't be getting an XSX at all as I've got a gaming PC and can play everything on that, but if I didn't then I'd probably get the XSX first.

I will be Series X but not day 1. I currently own an Xbox One X but nothing shown for launch is proving enough to make the change right now. I can still enjoy games such as Cyberpunk, Halo, Watch Dogs Legion, Valhalla etc on my existing console which will be slightly better than vanilla versions anyway due to Xbox One X enhanced. I have gamepass ultimate for 3 years on the £1 deal so have made my commitment to Xbox in that respect so will have access to the first party titles still for the time being. Once I start seeing games that are clearly a big step forward on Series X, I’ll make the move over whenever that may be. PS5 looks decent for sure but I tend to stick to just the one console tbh and have always preferred the stick layout of the Xbox controller personally.

For once in my life I have enough disposable income to get in at launch, and I still have a big PS4 backlog I should be able to keep playing on PS5 so PS5 it is. The choice is made easy cause I’ve never been an Xbox player anyway but from what we’ve seen so far the only next gen looking stuff that doesn’t seem like it’s still years away is on Sony’s side for my money.

I have a decent gaming PC. It's in need of an upgrade but still plays most games on at least High settings. Last gen I saw no exclusives on Xbox that made me want to buy one. I bought a PS4, mainly for Bloodborne but also for the other big hitters.

This gen it looks like I'll be going down the same path with a PS5 for Demon's Souls and other exclusives

The only thing MS has sold me on is Game Pass which so far has been genuinely worth every penny and it looks like pretty much every new gen Xbox game will also be available for PC. I may end up getting one though should it get to the stage where my PC can't or won't play the newer stuff but that would depend on the price of the console vs the cost of the PC upgrade.

I've just never clicked with the Xbox brand, the only Xbox I've ever had was a 360 and that was honestly just because of the indie games when that scene first exploded with the likes of Geometry Wars/Braid/Limbo etc.

Xbox is fine for casuals but if you want to play the more progressive/creative and polished games out there, you know the 10/10 exclusives rather than the 8/10 exclusives then the Playstation is the way to go.

PS5, largely down to the fact that I've been really happy with the One X/Game Pass combo and it doesn't look like there are any huge Series X exclusives for a couple of years. I also never bought a PS4 Pro, so the jump from a Slim to the new machine will be more impressive.

MS have failed to convince me I need a Series X right now, but only a year or so ago I was convinced I'd never buy an Xbox again. They're still a couple of years away from having a really robust next-gen line-up, though, and I think that's where Sony will punish them.

Exactly my reason for getting an XsX instead of upgrading my PC. It would need a complete upgrade to keep up with next gen, abd the cost of a graphics card alone is more than both consoles combined - and then I'd also need a cpu, mb, ram etc! Loved my gaming PC up until halfway through the current gen but I simply can't afford it.

Getting both consoles is also still somewhat expensive, but thanks to game pass I don't need to also save up for a bunch of games. Just two, maybe three (probably 2 looking at both conferences) PS5 games and I'll still have way more games to play than on any other launch!

This is something I’ve barely thought about. I feel no excitement for either right now. It makes more sense to wait for some unmissable exclusives to come out and/or console prices to be revealed before I make a decision.

If they turn out to be £500+, there are lots of other things I’d prefer to spend that money on.

I'm right though, just look at Halo. That summed it up, I'm sure it will be great fun but it's just not pushing anything. Also,  Neil Drukman or Cory Balrog would have never shown a trailer with a huge mountain suddenly popping in.

I'm in the same boat. I could maybe get away with a 2nd hand 2080Ti but anything else would need to be full upgrade

I voted XSX but I'll trade in my current consoles for both day one.

I want to know if the PS5 will provide a boost/patch/upgrade to PS4 games as the XSX will with Forza, Ori, etc. I'm looking forward to replaying FF7R with a bit more polish and TLOU2 with whatever possible extras they can squeeze in there.

I've played all third party stuff on the One X this gen and it's been a step up from the Pro in the vast majority of cases. I expect the same again next time around.

Neither has anything I'm looking forward to at launch, as far as I know.

Same. Everything third party on the XsX (better performance and going by precedent more silent) and the PS5 for the brilliant first party stuff. Perfect.

Probably PS5. 95% of my games were digital this gen so it'll be good to still have access to them when I replace the PS4.

Not a fan of Sony's exclusives really so it will more likely just come down to price and which platform Street Fighter 6 is on.

Some graphics cards will currently cost you over £1000, yes, but a GPU that's the rough equivalent of what's purportedly going to be going in the XSX is less than half that, and will probably be down to £400 by the end of the year, once the consoles and 3000-series of nVidea cards are out.

Granted, upgrading all the other PC components along with the GPU will likely cost you a grand all in, but at least you have the option to upgrade the GPU again, mid-generation, in 3-5 years' time, which is obviously something you won't be able to do with the consoles, unless you buy a PS5 Pro and/or the XSX equivalent for another £500 each.

My plan is to get a PS5, then upgrade my GPU to a 2080 Super, or even a Ti, in a couple of years, once they're sub-£500.

It's not launch. I don't think it was even dated, was it?

Oh you're right, I presumed Clank was a launch title for some reason. Erm...
