Goddamn it, if this comes out exclusively on the PS5 I may have to buckle and get one. And after I'd already decided I was going to stick with the Series X/Switch combo this gen.  But that looks too good to miss.

That's why I always get all the consoles  There's always *something*. When is this due out? Even if it isn't until early next year or whatever, you might want to start hunting for a PS5 asap @mdn2

I'm pretty sure it's a PS4 release, if that makes a difference for you.

To be fair, it's not been announced what platforms this will come out on although D3 do have a good history with Sony platforms. Saying that, after the recent announcements of World Brothers, EDF2 and 2017 getting Switch ports, maybe this could get a release on the fabled Switch Pro?

This is what could make for an inferior experience when playing on a PS5 - you'd be stuck at a rock solid 60. Might have to hook my creaky old PS4 back up for this one

This appeared a few weeks ago, well worth a watch. I think there's a couple of nice anecdotes about the franchise and it could coax new people into EDF5 (currently on sale) or the recent reveal of Arc Raiders seems to scratch that itch too:

Late with this one, but we've a few new enemy types in this trailer also.. continuing the aquatic theme, we have other sorts of squid enemies, drones and a new landshark Kaiju..

It's available for import pre-order for Japan and Asia copies. Does anyone know if the Asia copy will likely have English text?

 

I don't think I've imported a game since the PS3 era, but the last Asian copy of something I got was pretty much all English.

Possibly. The Japanese physical release of EDF Iron Rain is entirely in English if your console is set to English language (even links to the game in the PSN store and with the English trophy list). I believe EDF World Brother is the same. However all the Switch ports of earlier games and I think the mainline titles on PS4 are Japanese only.

Still no Euro/US date for it or EDF 6...
