I’m hoping that for VR you can use the touch controllers to be able to fly - be able to grab the thrust / flight stick - prob won’t happen though :(

have you played any that do that? Ultra Wings is the one I know. It's alright, but having to keep a button held down so it knows you're not letting go of the stick gets annoying after a while. Maybe they could think of a cleverer way. I'd still rather my Saitek flightstick/throttle combo (hey, it would mean I have three games to use it in!) but this would be a good second best.

Yeah have played a couple - With doeffernt degrees of success - flyinside flight sim is decent enough but you need it for all the airplane controls and dials.  (It’s basically msflight sim in VR). But full Hotas supper would be the dream but cat. See it happening as this will be catered for the masses

My one requirement for VR is a stable/rigid cockpit. In the Battlefront VR demo the cockpit moves around a lot, which is the opposite of what's needed to minimise VR sickness.

Otherwise ... :omg::omg::omg::omg::omg::omg::omg::omg::omg::omg::omg::omg::omg::omg::omg::omg::omg::omg::omg::omg::omg::omg::omg:

That's just the joys of the PSVR. Will be fine on PC VR.

What? No, I think you've mistaken what I was getting at. In VR, if the cockpit is fixed, then when you move and see the scenery moving outside your window, your brain can more easily be tricked into settling down and thinking "okay, you're in a moving vehicle, this is fine".  What the Battlefront demo does is have the cockpit move inside your view (albeit only a little) when you make a manoeuvre, and that's in addition to the movement you see outside your window, that's far tougher on the brain to interpret, and is far more likely to result in sicky sicky piggy. That's nothing whatsoever to do with the capabilities/limitations of PSVR. :)

Haven't played a game like this since Rebel Strike on the GameCube. Hope it's good and EA don't fill it with their microtransaction shite.

PS5/XSX launch title?

I think I read that all upgrades and customisations will be achieved through gameplay - no loot boxes :)

I’m actually excited for this based on things in that trailer. Surely EA haven’t listened to the fans again, have they ?

Ace Combat really nailed VR cockpit stuff, and that has no involuntary movement so hopefully they took a page from it’s book. It wouldn’t make sense to have inertia acting on your head in space anyway, would it?

The press release on IGN was updated in the evening, not sure if it was reflected here...

Single player mode: You alternate the story between a New Republic and Empire pilot that you can customise.

Multiplayer mode: 5 vs 5 in two game types, either dogfight or fleet attack/defend

That feels a bit sparse multiplayer wise, and if the single player is the lesser of the two (as previously mentioned), it concerns me what they are going to do for it over a series of dogfights and FMV sequences. Feels to me like it could end up like the original Titanfall campaign basically thematically linking bot fights with plot. Hopefully there is more to it, further news on Thursday's EA Play (well technically midnight Friday).

VTOL VR is incredible as it's built from the ground up for VR, so I think it can be successful, but the entire game needs to be built around it.

This looks good and I will probably be in for day 1 as I haven't bought a new release in ages.

But 5 Vs5 sounds very limited, you are not exactly going to be recreating the battle if Endor with that.

Perhaps they will add bigger modes in later.

Wowzers. Missed that. Shit...thats means they could simulate the Falcon being chased out of the Death Star - FROM 1977!

In support of 5 vs 5, I find it hard to believe in the era of heavily focus-tested videogames not one person in EA went, "5 vs 5 we're going to get pilloried for that, people want massive fighter battles"

I think there's a reason games like Valorant or League of Legends stick with reduced squad sizes. It the sort of squad you can assemble relatively frequently with your mates. It's a size of squad that can learn and grow with a game, where people take on different roles. If  the game is technical enough to warrant it, then this team aspect could be quite interesting. If it was just clouds of arcade fighters looping around one another then I could see it getting boring fast. But if it's X-Wing Counterstrike that might be a far more interesting proposition. I'm not saying it is that - but the eye openingly small number of ships in each battle I think sounds potentially very interesting and I'll hold fire lambasting them till we have more details.

The more I read the more I'm getting excited. This will be the game for VR for me. Absolutely loved the original X-Wing game back in the day!

The chance to feel like I'm flying around in an X-Wing fighter in the Star Wars universe? Instant buy here. Red 5 standing by... :D

Edit :Just read it has HOTAS support on the PC too. OK it might finally be time to invest in one. It will be great for Elite Dangerous too which I'm finding challenging in VR on a keyboard and pad at the moment. Really looking forward to winter this year!!!

For any of you with PC version in future (or anybody here if it's X-play) definitely be up for some online fun with this! Can't wait....
