Whole world is fucking mad if 88 average is seen as a bad score.

I didn’t say it was bad. But I just think it is low in relation to how good the game is. I am sure internally the studio would have wanted a higher number given how much money and love they clearly threw at it.

Lenses? Not very exciting so far:

Spoiler

There's a ? in the Daunt where you find a dead guy and a guard, which leads you to a woman who'll buy them from you.

I absolutely loved the characters though.

I realised when I was playing last night that this has by far the most realistic non-white people I’ve ever seen in a game. It’s not just good facial scanning, it gets skin tone right in a way I’ve never seen before. Makes me realise just how poor the industry has been at this in the past.

Why do I feel so sensitive to it now?

Different tv with higher refresh rate? That's my reason anyway, I try this on 30fps and it's like a slide show it's terrible. Maybe I could try a different mode other than HDR Game on my tv to see if it improves it but I'd rather not mess around for one game so I'll stick to 60.

Yeah I'm getting into this now, exploring freely trying to find my first cauldron, there's got to be one out here somewhere as Aloy keeps mentioning it!

is there a block in this or am I being daft?

I don't think there is unless I'm being daft too.#

Anyone know what the tool is that allows you to clear blocked paths and when you're supposed to pick it up?

Warning: LG OLED CX / 30fps chat ahead:

When playing in a semi-darkened room, I'm finding that setting TruMotion->OLED Motion Pro to Medium and setting motion blur in-game to low really helps remove any judder when playing at 30fps. The picture gets a bit darker as a result, but it's so eye-searingly bright normally that it doesn't matter too much.

I'm not normally sensitive to low frame rates, and always been perfectly fine with 30 (or even lower). For some reason this seems really juddery when the camera pans.  I found setting blur to off helped quite a lot but it still there slightly. It's strange as not getting this on any other games on the same screen.

yeah, it's got a nice cast of diverse characters. I did notice they eat well in Chainscrape as well, a good variety of body types, that Chef must be making a fortune.

I saw three different blockages in the first area. Deep water, red crystal growth and ivy linked to metal flowers. The first needs something we've seen in various trailers and review spoilers and I assume will be a mainline quest reward; don't know about the other two.

Hah, didn't quite twig what I needed to do to get onto the first Tallneck. Until I actually listened to Aloy's witterings.

D'oh! I had completely forgotten I had that tool! I thought the Tallneck was keeping its distance - and worse, I fell to my death at least once trying to reach it!

It reminds me a lot more now of Breath of The Wild once you get into the West.

Yeah it's suitably daunting exploring the environment, I keep getting killed by those groups of

I really need to take a look at my gear now and see what’s what, there’s a lot to take in isn’t there, although to be fair so far I have been plying it pretty much like an action game abs the game seems to fit around how you choose to play. Melee is pretty woolly though, I’m proper button mashing with that.

You have to buy the combo in skill upgrades; not had it land for me - I tend to do the hold-R2 attack; you can normally time it to avoid a rush, and Aloy travels ridiculous distances to land it.

What's your opinions on gear? Weapons and outfits? Buy and upgrade everything? Or specialise early and save your shards/resources for later upgrades?

I've been buying and upgrading everything :)

There's a R1-R1-R2 combo apparently but I've never seen or felt it 'work'...

R1-R1-R1-R2 as well, then you've got the whole powering up your spear, doing a hold-r2 hit and then shooting an arrow into the affected component for multiple damage. Works really well.  And the r1-hold r2, jump backwards, aim (slow mo) and shoot move too.... I'm digging the melee combat.

I’m around level 14 and am investing most of my points into the Warrior (melee) and Hunter (bow) tree at the moment. Gear wise I’m upgrading everything and buying blues as and when they appear.

I’ve done some main storyline today and it’s all kicked off brilliantly - it’s going to be hard not to just tear through it now but I want to mix it up with side quests as they’ve been great fun so far.
