To me it screams NieR tbh. Without the anime vibe of course.

The B-roll doesn't look great but it's hard to say how indicative of the game it'll end up being. Obviously they still have a ways to go on the optimisation front – there's supposed to be a 60fps mode at launch – but I think the bigger issue is that the only combat on display is against a group of trash mobs in a field dispatched rather uninterestingly. It seems fair to assume that other enemies will pose more of a challenge and require more synergistic magic use.

 

Equipping magical modifiers via fingernail decoration is a pretty neat concept, although it's easy to imagine how they could totally fumble it with clanging stereotyping. I think that goes for a lot of aspects of the game: I can see how things might be fun and interesting but it's hard to gauge from what's been shown so far. I hope they'll pull things together, but I'm not confident.

Maybe it's video compression (although I bumped up the quality) or that cloak, but the shimmery motion effect behind the character looks a bit weird, or too much, or something.

Objectively I like the look of this  - just my blend of generic character action open world shit with some potentially good writing and pretty visuals.

 

But seriously Square can fuck off with trying to bring £70 pricing to PC games
