The art style reminds me of the first Assassin's Creed. All that grunting and all those quips are going to get old super-fast.

Yeah, I thought of Assassin's Creed as well. Looking forward to Forspoken 2.

The B-roll doesn't look great but it's hard to say how indicative of the game it'll end up being. Obviously they still have a ways to go on the optimisation front – there's supposed to be a 60fps mode at launch – but I think the bigger issue is that the only combat on display is against a group of trash mobs in a field dispatched rather uninterestingly. It seems fair to assume that other enemies will pose more of a challenge and require more synergistic magic use.

Equipping magical modifiers via fingernail decoration is a pretty neat concept, although it's easy to imagine how they could totally fumble it with clanging stereotyping. I think that goes for a lot of aspects of the game: I can see how things might be fun and interesting but it's hard to gauge from what's been shown so far. I hope they'll pull things together, but I'm not confident.

Translation: We've seen Elden Ring and realise we're not getting a look in for a good few months.

Just a great piece of shade thrown at this news in today's Hit Points, which made me do a smile.

Square Enix has delayed the action-adventure Forspoken from its previously scheduled May release date to October, pushing back the publisher’s admission it has failed to meet sales expectations by five months.
