I have no real idea about what this will actually turn out to be, but - for me at least - it was the most intriguing trailer to be shown at the show. Partly because I'm a big fan of the graphic engine they're using, but also because this gives off vibes of the tech demo they did a little while ago to show off the engine. I doubt it has anything to do with it in reality,  but there we go.

Anyway, it looks great!

Looks interesting, this is the FFXV guys, yeah?

By the end of their endless DLC episodes you could see they were getting steadily better at er... making something of equivalent quality to an AAA game. Moving the battle system into something a bit lighter and flashier, getting a bit better at character development and storytelling, y'know. Getting better at the engine and making content.

This now has a proper name: Forspoken. Pretty tame by Square-Enix standards.

As possibly the only person to have thought about Galleon in the last decade, I rather like the idea of speedily traversing large open spaces. If they can get the feel of that right – it certainly looks good – then they're most of the way to a fun game already.

Game's due out in 2022 for PS5 and PC. At one point it was specified as releasing in January '22 in a Sony montage – something for CES, I think – but even if that wasn't a mistake it's fair to assume every game developed during the pandemic is likely to slip.

*raises hand*
I absolutely love Galleon and think it was one of the best games of its release year if not the best.  It was *so* ahead of its time.  Yeah there’s some similarity in the running and climbing here huh

There could still be a performance mode, no? I would hope that option has become s standard inclusion by now.

This was a weird one for me during the showcase. It looked like something I should be impressed by but something about it puts me right off. It's not just the shite talkey bits either.

To me it looks like a game that got cancelled.

I did t actually notice it being 30fps, I didnt think the graphics were that good.

Still it’s one to watch to see how it develops, just seems slightly experimental like it’ll lead the studio and team to something bigger later on.

Did anyone else find the gameplay quite interesting but the tone of the dialogue a bit shit?

Gameplay looked decent but yeah the story looked like tropey shite (random gets sucked into an unfamiliar world because they are the one), and the character models were a joke.
