This is to try and prevent the Namco problem - you can’t get that cart in the USA officially, and it won’t play on the Evercade VS Console because the license was for the handheld only. Capcom obviously weighed up that it wouldn’t eat into Arcade Stadium sales as a one-off.

It still amazes me how guarded these companies are with the license agreements for older games. I'd wager that the vast majority of the Evercade audience have access to most of these games and the means to play them outside of their Evercade purchase.

The more difficult they make it for gamers to legitimately play these games, the more they risk seeing declining support for the platforms which host them. These companies should be enormously grateful to Evercade and others for opening up fresh revenue streams for catalogue games, not constantly trying to trip them up with punitive licensing restrictions.

On the fence about grabbing an EXP, its a shiny new thing and the Capcom games plus the IREM cart make it pretty tempting but then could I move my original on for much? Doubt it. Not sure it makes too much sense for me.

Just sold my original starter pack, boxed with small zip case for 25 quid.

Sold mine for 45 on eBay with the 3 games that came with the premium (I had 2 copies of each, long story), didn't realiser bay would gouge me for 10% of that. But I moved it on so am happy enough with my order for the new one.

Got my exp ordered, looking forward to the Capcom and IREM games. 1942 and Moon Patrol were some of my most played games in the arcade back in the day.

Sounds about right, two extra games for 20 quid. Looking forward to my limited edition EXP, but not the eye gouging customs charges I'll get.

Was just glad to get something back for it!

I'd do anything for a SWOS cart. Portable management would be amazing out and about.

There is Football Manager 96 and non-SWOS Sensi on the Evercade already, so you're sort of covered!

Aye I have the lot but the onlly footie management game is SWOS, nothing else counts! I don't even like football but its the one game I go back to regular 🤣 Luckily it still works on my Series X but I'd love a special cart.

If it had the gameplay it'd be golden. Best thing for me about SWOS is running through matches as manager then jumping in to take over to play the matches if its all going wrong.

Are all the preciously released carts still freely available to buy?

I'm interested in this but not if the older carts are out of stock and going for silly prices on ebay.

Most of them, but no, not all.

Despite selling my Evercade collection earlier this year, I’ve ordered the EXP.

I plan to reacquire the small amount of excellent cartridges I enjoyed the first time around, and to avoid the stinkers like Gremlin collection etc.

Excited to see what they have moving forward and it’s heartening to see that they have managed to make this platform have some longevity, so happy to support them with this purchase.

Yeah, I sold my Evercade VS when I moved city with my girlfriend earlier this year. She’s really chill with my gaming consoles but I didn’t want to take the piss so kept my collection to what could fit in two Kallax cubes. Of course the Series, switch, Dreamcast and Megadrive were going no where so I gave my bro my Pandora box and the Evercade went which bought me a few bits of furniture.

I’d be tempted back if they did a premium version of the Evercade VS much like the EXP. The console has a cool colour scheme and front light but other than that is made from cheap plastic; feels and looks like a WiFi router and has a cheap front cartridge cover that mimics the NES but without any weight behind closing it. Same goes with inputting the cartridges there’s no satisfying click, it just squeezes in without any feedback. Just feels budget and definitely deserves a premium edition that makes it feel like a real console.

Opposite goes for the UI which is awesome from the visuals to the music. Really screams retro cool and is brilliant. I’m hoping in the future that they improve the quality of what’s on the carts, too many iffy games in the collections, get more 16bit onwards game, for me that’s the era that retro gaming becomes very exciting, too much on the Evercade feels more like museum pieces than games you’d drop hours into. Might be a personal opinion but lots of 8bit and earlier games are hard to enjoy.

Glad to see that they are getting some bigger names on the system, it’s something I’ve been wanting to see for a while. Irem and Toaplan is a step in the right direction Capcom is a massive boon too but shame  there’s no cart version as yet at least. People quote licensing costs but there’s been some real shit retro machines out there that managed to get the likes of Sega and Capcom on board. You may not make money from those carts even but having them attracts a bigger audience onto the system and more revenue in the long run. It’s taking that risk which hopefully Blaze is beginning to do.

I kept all my carts when I sold my original, think they will keep me going for a while (got 8 of them) and with the Irem and Capcom games that's a ton to be getting on with. Saying that, there are another 8 on my Wishlist on Amazon. Indie Heroes 2 will be a definite but after the first one was so good.

Just the changes in the look, screen, Tate mode, the wi-fi all shouts an upgrade in quality. With the Capcom games it's well worth getting the new machine. And having Moon Patrol on the system, which I chucked so many 10p coins in back in the day, is the icing on the cake

I think the difference is that those shit retro machines were made by Sega/Capcom ... I can't remember seeing any third party machines with either of their games (may be wrong through).

Got my new EXP yesterday and pretty pleased with it. Tate mode is great, tried it with 1942 which I played a lot in the arcades. Screen is much crisper and the overall build quality feels tons better. The only complaints I've seen are that the screen could be bigger and brighter, but some reviewers point out that we have been spoiled by the Switch Oled and Analogue Pocket which are a lot more expensive.

Now I just need to find the codes for the 5 unlock able games
