I returned to this over the last week - using the 3rd person mode and playing through on hardcore difficulty - loved it!

 

I recommend anyone to skip normal and just go into it on hardcore. It's so much more fun ( we'll except the first ambush, that's probably the most frustrating part of the game).

 

The 3rd person mode was great too - I wish 7 got this. 

 

Look forward to trying the rose story dlc.

Got round to playing the Rose DLC:

The castle area seemed a bit bland and linear. It didn't really have the same quality as the main game but the house beneviento section was great, perhaps even better than the actual game. Those mannequin got the biggest jump scares for the entire game! The final part was decent if not short.

 

Overal it wasn't bad, maybe better quality than the RE7 dlc though.

Is the third person mode only available if you purchase the DLC?

Yes, it's part of the dlc.

 

It's a bit cheeky - it should just be a free option really.

I bought this in the sale with a view to saving it for PSVR. I’m now out of Castle Dinitrescu and into the house of creepiness that is House Beneviento. Great game.

I'm sorely tempted, but am standing firm and keeping it for PSVR2.

I just had to pop into this thread and mention how unbelievably good this is in PSVR2! I've only played the opening section (just up to the first siege) but I cannot wait to see the castle etc up close and personal. I almost feel cold trudging around the snow... Brilliant work from Capcom, and the standout PSVR2 game for me so far (yes that includes Horizon).

played a bit of the demo. The shooting range is pretty impressive. (but to be honest I think I need to gun assistance turned on)
 

Noped out about 5 mins into the demo proper.

Just bought this in the Steam sale. I'm loving it.

 

It's the first RE game since 4 that has really clicked with me. Perhaps that's partly because it's not too oppressive - I found 7 and 2: Remake too tense for my delicate sensibilities!

I found the intro really weird to play in VR with Ethan ducking down or being on the floor while I was stood up. It felt like I was buried up to the neck and made me feel incredibly disorientated.

Yeah it’s really weird. I’ve found that I’ve just got used to it now but at first it was strange, and it’s a shame because those scenes are excellent too. 
 

John Linneman has reviewed it for Digital Foundry and he reckons reducing the brightness down to zero makes the game look better. I think it looks good with the brightness on full (the default setting) so I might check it out to see what he means.
