:D

Your vehicle and it's stuff will be there so will be able to finish that fairly quickly once you get the metal beams.

I'd recommend NOT using a scout for transportation - they should really be used for going to find those towers and I tend to use to try and refuel bigger trucks.

I'd recommend either an Off-Road or a Heavy (depending on the expected route to take!). If you customise the back of the truck to a carrier to add a sideboard/flatbed and then bring a sideboard trailer - this will give you 4 slots for transporting stuff.

Good luck!

Think I need to build up some levels and cash, and maybe unlock the AWD for the GMC flatbed. I bought tyres with good grip in the mud for both scouts but I'm not high enough level for all weather tyres on the flatbed yet. Got some towers to start unlocking, methinks! Now I know what I'm doing, I might be able to do towers in Alaska with the Scout 800, too.

Yeah go have a poke in Alaska. Some may say it’s best to leave it and concentrate on Michigan but I say spread your wings, see how far you get.

Get in a scout and just follow the road for 15 minutes then have a look at the map to see what you’ve opened up. You get experience when you find stuf so…

one thing I forgot to mention is the trucks that are just laying about the place and you get to unlock when you find them have a good hunt on the map screen to see if you can see any.

Your quite early on by the sounds of it and at that stage in the game I found the Royal BM17 which was a great workhorse.

You should consider buying the Khan though (with real money)

Leveling up in this game is redundant for me because I’ve been max level for ages but thinking about it, it just seems like yet another unnecessary road block when the game itself is so utterly infuriating sometimes.

I love it though, ever since I watched Convoy as a little child and watched the cars and trucks race through the dust I had a massive fetish for suspension and movement up and down of wheels….ooo err

Just got this in the Playstation sale.  I played Mudrunner a tiny bit a while ago over PS Now (the perils of too many games to play on PS Now), but basically am new to the whole thing.

It's really good :) I spent quite a while last night just getting the starter pick-up truck thing to one of the "King of the hill" peaks, by accident, because I thought I was on the track to a watchtower :D.  And after a few sessions of driving past the broken down truck in the garage yard thinking "I'm sure I'll find some parts to fix that soon", I realised you could just tow it the 5 yards to your garage and fix it there. Doh!  It was only through skimming this thread that I realised you could upgrade your vehicles, too, so now the starter pick-up has higher suspension and better tyres it's much less of a victim in the mud.

It's the perfect antidote for trying to shave hundredths off a lap time in GT Sport.  And GT Sport is the perfect antidote for struggling for an hour to winch you and your load out of the mud.  A perfect pair of games :)

(I just wish it didn't feel quite so apocalyptic - where is all the other traffic?)

Rumour has it was are a month or so away from a next gen version.

hope it’s true

Me too - it’s a surprisingly pretty game already so interested to see how it turns out.

Pretty, but infuriating at times. I almost completed “Not a Drill” twice before getting the construction semi rig irretrievably stuck in mud just yards from the drilling site. I eventually tried a different route with a slightly more upgraded truck and just about managed it.

I’m now stuck on “Fixer Upper” on the region with the dam (Smithsville?) I’ve dragged the bloomin’ broken truck up 2 different twisty, turny tracks before getting hopelessly stuck. Now I’ve found a slightly easier way up, but now I’m stuck at a river crossing which seems to lead to a sheer cliff. I’m starting to think they can just do without their bloody truck.

I love how the different upgrade options all add up so you start to effectively unlock new routes as your trucks get more proficient.

I did it!

That was a lot of work.

The bummer is that I don’t think I want to play it without trophies. So if a next gen version comes out I probably won’t buy it and I probably won’t play any of the dlc. I’ve bought all of it up till now and there’s one or two I’ve not touched.

Excellent game though despite its pain in the arse design.

there’s so much they could do to take the frustration out of it.

guess the one thing I'm afraid of is that these newer trucks will trivialise the game

The game definitely gets easier with time and upgrades. Both better trucks, tires and winch's and you just generally learn which trucks and loads can take the routes.

And although I can now play most of the time without failing (to the point of dozing off to sleep momentarily and still been fine!) there will always be moments that trip you up.

Thanks, yeah I think I will continue deliberately metering out my truck/upgrade progress if that's the case. I read online that the better tyres trivialise most surfaces so I'll probably hold back on them a bit. I've been taking an approach of just using my offroad truck for the things only that can do, and still rolling out the starter trucks for easier tasks to keep up a challenge level. From what I've read half the fun is seeing how the different trucks perform so I'm going to stick to that philosophy, trying them all out. I've been holding off on winch upgrades and the scout auto-winch because I feel they will make the game much easier (plus they are expensive). Also not abusing the economy and just selling things to get the good trucks. I guess eventually I will have to sell stuff as you get so little money overall, but for now I'm doing alright without.

Yeah - I feel that the auto winch makes failures inconsequential and so I haven't picked it up for anything recently.

Also, once you get used to the controls I recommend switching on immersive mode. It fades out the HUD when it isn't in use and it's really nice to drive around taking in the atmosphere. It also means you have to actively check your fuel as it's not always on display (although you can usually tell by looking at the vehicle)

Pretty much - anything substantial is behind the Season Pass (Year 1 pass for season 1-4 and Year 2 pass for season 5-8) and more general updates available to everyone.

There has been some pretty great changes delivered in the updates for free like hard mode and mod support on consoles, and this update has added photo mode and crossplay. A next gen upgrade has also been promised this year.

I’ve just noticed on Steam’s front store page there’s an 80% off offer which looks to be for this and Mudrunner together, at least this is what the promo suggests, but when you click through it’s just Mudrunner. Still a good deal, but misleading all the same.
