Star Trek 4 (Kelvin Timeline, not the whales)

Recommended Posts

I dunno, someone who's directing experience consist of 6 TV episodes (3 Fargo, 3 Legion) and one film, "Lucy in the Sky", which has a 23% rating on Rotten Tomatoes maybe makes you think just what Paramount thinks of Star Trek.

Or counterpoint:

They use more than a 30 second IMDB search to make hiring decisions?

Further counter point, they need the money for Pine and Hemsworth so spent less on a director. Of course I'm being pedantic and thats probably not the case.

I wasn't a fan of Into Darkness and I remember fuck all about Beyond, so I'm not overly bothered by this news but will watch it when it's out on home viewing.

I still think that a fourth Kelvin timeline film will never happen. Or if it does emerge, it'll be retooled into something else.

Retooled into a Michael Burnham showcase?

I’d like the next film to explain how going into a black hole sends you back in time for some reason.

Same way they've already explained before - the black hole sucks in everything including time.

Where is the Tarantino version of Shatner going medieval on a Clingon's ass?

All the press is finished for "Once upon a time in Hollywood" now so he doesn't need to talk about Star Trek any longer.

Noah Hawley's saying that this film will probably have a new cast:

So then, would you be doing it with the cast that’s already in place, or would it be a new thing?

HAWLEY: It’s still early days. For me, it’s definitely an a new direction, but it’s still early, in terms of who exactly would be in it or what the characters would be. I don’t think of it as Star Trek 4, to be reductive. This is a new beginning.

Asked if the film would involve a new cast, he responded, "Yeah, I think so. Yeah."

Pressed if anyone from the cast last seen in 2016's Star Trek Beyond would return, Hawley added, "It's early days. I don't know. But new characters often involve new cast."
