Finished Servant last night which is handy as Season 2 starts on 15th Jan, already been renewed for a third.

Amazingly it walked that tightrope for me of being a bit silly but never going OTT or disappointing - its a very tight show with very few locations and very few characters, taking place almost exclusively in their house.

Single best decision though bearing this in mind was 10 slow but tight 30m eps, not the usual Netflix style bloat of 12 1h plus eps.

Good performances all round, especially the news reporter mum and the brilliant Uncle George.

Amazingly its was written by a former Eastenders writer.

Apple have picked up a sci-fi show from Andy Samberg, his Palm Springs writer Andy Siara, Noah Hawley, Ben Stiller and Bojack Horseman creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg. There's not yet any details on the show itself, other than it will star Samberg, but it's an interesting list of names.

I've just had an email to say they've extended my free sub until February (I think it was due to expire in December).

Another free extension in my inbox - this time until July! Thanks Apple, I guess!

Anyone watch the latest episode of season 2 of Servant?

Spoiler

The whole pizza delivery company plan to get through the house's security is perhaps the most long winded plan in break-in history. Good job they didn't say leave the pizzas at the gate. Not quite sure where they're going with all of this now, since Leanne left the Turner's house. There's a feel of things being made up as they go along. Still watchable though, largely thanks to Ron Weasley effing and jeffing and knocking back three gallons of wine per episode.

That whole sequence was ridiculous. It definitely feels like they’re winging it now and getting a 2nd season was a mistake.

My wife and I really enjoyed Palmer last night.  It doesn't do anything unexpected, the trailer pretty much shows what you're going to get, but it is beautifully shot and with some excellent performances.  The young actor that plays Sam is a revelation.

I've just had a look at this and I'm really surprised at the volume of upsell content thats on there. I'm using the 1 year free with a new product trial and I assume that is the the equivalent of a propper sub. Its kind of like streaming services with a streaming service.

I can only assume that you need to know whats apple and whats not when navigating the content. On that basis it is looks quite barren when compared to the others out there, or am I missing a trick?

Having only started using it this week on a sub I find it a pretty bad experience.

Going to the "Apple +" or whatever tab gets me just their content fine.

But the thing I hate (at least on the Chromecast app) is that finishing an episode of something leads to a suggestion of something else entirely. It doesn't auto play the next episode. It doesn't even offer it as a recommendation to click. And going back to the show selection screen doesn't show me which episodes I've already watched. Urgh.

Using the PS4 app, and it does autoplay the next episode in a series, with a generous delay.

Good to know it might change or get fixed.

I wondered if it might be an Apple way thing where they loftily state it's intended as a way to suggest people watch less TV (whilst offering a service).
