A second season of The Mosquito Coast just started. I stuck out the first season, but more out of bloody-mindedness than genuine engagement. I just assumed it had been quietly consigned to the bin.

I don't need to subscribe to Apple TV plus to rent or buy a film, correct?

 

Also, why does Apple TV have so many more films available in 4k than Amazon? is it a case of Apple paying to have them converted or something?

1. Yes, Apple TV app is basically the iTunes movie/TV store. Apple TV + is their subscription service with Apple exclusive content
    
2. Probably so they can shift units of their Apple TV 4K hardware product?

I think this is one of the few duds they've had. Justin Theroux is usually amazing, but he cant' save this. It is just so boring.

We watched the Selena Gomez documentary yesterday. It's excellent.

Started watching Acapulco, and it’s a surprisingly delightful comedy - set in a resort in Mexico, rags to riches story about a guy who starts as a pool boy there, it’s very colourful and feel good.

We're rinsing Apple TV+ as another free trial period ends soon.

 

Causeway, a movie starring Jennifer Lawrence is decent.

Black Bird, as has been discussed previously in here, is really really good.

 

We're currently watching Five Days at Memorial, which I've not seen discussed in here. It's about the five days following Hurricane Katrina at Memorial Hospital in NOLA. Grimly compelling and gripping, but with some characters and scenes straight from a direct to DVD melodrama.

You absolutely must watch Severance. Essential viewing.
