Hmm, I seem to have reached an annoying difficulty spike near the end of the game that's going to require some grinding. Has taken a bit of the wind out of it to be honest.

If it's the one everyone encounters:

Spoiler

Go back to Sotenbori and complete the fighting tournament. Go all the way to the top level. Then maybe do the last handful of levels a few more times for dead easy party levelling and amassing some extremely effective equipment for everyone. The game emphasizes the tournament is optional but it really isn't if you want to beat a certain deadly duo

Top tip for everyone encountering the management shareholder meetings. It's dead easy once you understand this:

That's all there is to it. Red beats green beats blue beats red.

A shareholder will start with a question of a certain colour - counter that question by selecting the colour that beats it. Ie look at the colour of the word balloon. If it's a red question, let your blue employee counter.

Then after you counter, look at the colour of the shareholder who asked the question. For example a blue shareholder - then you select your green employee and mash the button to dwindle the shareholder health bar down.

The above image is always on screen so you don't need to memorize which colour beats which

That's really the basics!

To add to @Mr. Gerbik’s notes in his spoiler:

Spoiler

I didn’t worry too much about the bonus objectives in the Sotenbori arena until I was a bit more levelled up - focus on climbing up the floors and then when you go back to the objectives you missed they’ll be much more do-able.

Also, I believe some duplicate gear can drop if you revisit floors, which is great as an additional source of funds if you flog it at the pawn shop.

And note that doing the management game is not only fun, you'll also end up hell of rich. Plenty of funds to stock up on healing items and upgrade weapons etcetera. At the management endgame you'll earn 3 million yen per shareholder meeting iirc

I'm still fairly new to the game, bit when I was getting to grips with the management sim I found spamming the chicken's attacks to work well. As it has a low cooldown so you can use it more frequently.

And it feels more in keeping with Yakuza's style for shareholder meetings to be events where, whenever a shareholder asks a question, the Chief Executive gets an angry chicken to attack them.

Yeah I've steamed way past it now and the bit I was having trouble with. I'm definitely ready to finish the game now though - have mopped up available sub quests. I've never really made use of the additional jobs as apart from Idol none of them seem particularly essential at this point. I'll probably end up watching a YouTube video of the various abilities as some of them are extremely funny, but not enough to spend ages grinding for I think.

I think I have reached the point you mentioned here.

Just finished this. Excellent game. Almost up there with Yakuza 0 overall.

Spoiler

Some proper bullshit on the last hard fight though. A boss that can just straight up kill the hero requiring you to spend another hour going through the dungeon if you can't afford to retry is pretty shitty. The pay to retry mechanic is rubbish regardless, even if it does riff on Dragon Quest. Anyway, just forced to use the deny instant kill ability and then just plug away.

Ichiban is now one of my favourite ever videogame protagonists.

Now that I've finished it I'm mopping up a few quests I missed and achievements. It's still making me laugh.

Spoiler

A drunken Namba high fiving the girls in a hostess bar when you get a perfect rating is quite priceless. Nanba in general is priceless, especially Essence of Resuscitation

And that's the last sidequest done. What an excellent game. Not quite Yakuza 0, but damn close. I think if you are not already invested in the series, you could easily play this after 0 if you want more. Or start here if you prefer turn based RPGs to action games.

I hit a rather steep wall in Chapter 12. Need some more defence I reckon.

Me too...

Spoiler

Assuming it's the same one Benny hit, then me... the terrible twosome? I'm still grinding the battle arena to level up

Yup, exactly there. Weirdest thing is, I am like level 47 with level 24 jobs. I think my numbers are high enough but man I am getting my arse kicked  Rinsing management now to get 3 million every 5 minutes and buying defensive items.

Yeah, I literally just finished it.

@df0 you should be powerful enough now…

Spoiler

I beat them at level 49, and although there were a couple of hairy moments it was more annoying than hard in the end
