Gamer or lamer?

Luck was already trolling the thread about Analog’s handheld, going on about hipsters, before posting this one, if anyone is honestly buying the “I came to Rllmuk to do a social experiment” angle.

The original post is a gaming forum classic that always comes up without fail and always entertains.

I reckon Luck's parents bought him a BBC rather than a Spectrum and he's still sore about it.

Or maybe that was the warmup to this thread to get your attention. The jab always leads...

Anyhoo, look how invested you all are in this.

I could sit here and speak on your social status, sexual market value, actual self confidence and fulfillment in life vs desired goals with crisp clarity but you all know where you stand anyway, don't you my little munchkins?

DoWnV07e iF u CrI EvERyTim!1!!!!11!!

Now, back to waggling those joysticks to seek fulfillment in ways you feel life has denied it, after all our entertainment choices are often a direct reflection of what we feel we're lacking and are as such poor substitutes for the real thing but when those who are denied consider the alternative a chill runs down their spine so they head back to their surrogate and attempt to convince themselves nothing is amiss.

All hail the 9 stone weakling Street Fighter expert!

Don't forget to champion the crater faced dating sim God who happens to be a real life hover hand!

And how can we forget the man who is treated like shit by a boss he doesn't like in a job he detests who comes home to throw booming headshots with deadly precision against his perceived enemies!

Plus a special shoutout to the cretins who've made thousands of posts on said topic in an obscure corner of the net no one cares about on top of spending so much of their adult lives deriving the most enjoyment they've ever had via a screen!

Salute to you special soliders! Ultimately I'm just trying to get you to think...

Does anyone remember that really intense flashlights enthusiasts forum?

This is like going on there and posting, "ahh, but you, with your flashlights...! Have you ever even seen the light of the moon?"

I feel a bit sorry for the OP.

His initial post comes across like he is a bit angry with how things have turned out and instead of a little self reflection, he has dashed all the blame at external factors. Then to reinforce the whole it's not my fault-ness of it all he's waded in here assuming that deep down the things that have been a negative for him must be a negative for everyone whether they know it or not.

Either that or it's just a troll. Either way ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I don't think the porn comparison works. Plenty of people are having varying amounts of sex (even occasionally me...a gamer no less!) but I'm fairly certain many of them also watch porn. In other words I don't think porn is a substitute for actual sex.

Having said that I don't think videogames are necessarily a literal  substitute for actual real life engagements. As an example for a long time in my gaming hobby I have enjoyed many FPS games.  I am certain I have never felt that this is an area of my life that I am missing physically.

I probably started gaming as I was slightly on the introverted side with a strong but smaller group of friends. I wasn't bullied or different from anyone else and although slightly introverted I wasn't anything like a recluse. I'm still on the introverted side now as I hurtle towards 40 it just means that I generally get my "energy" from within rather than from being out with others (which is what extroverts do).  My dad brought an Acorn electron home one day when I was very little and Chuckie Egg and Arcadians blew my mind. I must have only been 5 or 6 maybe (born in 82).

To cut a long story short games are really fun for some reason.

Prove it.

I'll wait here. *folds arms*

The guy really got under our skin. This thread was onto its second page! Over thirty posts! That's probably a lot!

I came out here to make video games, snarky cunts like you that sit at home passively consuming my work in your drab little council house making judgements on people ljke me are still paying my fucking rent, wether you like it or not, so kiss my "autistic white boy" arse you glassy eyed talentless consumer cunt, go back to your rainy provincial high street game shop and write me another royalty cheque, bitch.

I can't get enough of the writings and sentiments from 'superiority nerds'; it's a real guilty pleasure. Give we're all dorks originally tied together by games we've all known one or two. They're usually in the hobby the deepest and their push to be more unique means they're all the same. To attain the prestigious label of Superiority Nerd the candidate must exhibit a defensive snobbery and deem those that never accepted them as poorly-read plebeians. Candidates are also encouraged to consider specialising in the following roles: pickup artist, people watcher, kendōka, magician, pretend fantasy novelist, MRA or, worse still, aspiring Edge writer. You get the talentless ones like Prankster who's defined by failing an entry retail role and then you get the ones like John Sczepaniak who contributes good, worthwhile work underneath the cacophony of Bono-level cringe.

I think the sickness probably starts with the first claim of crying when Aerith died. Or using italics on forums.

I'm still lolling into my cabbage reading his response.

I may have prefaced it saying you're all cunts but I thought some of you would override your innate cuntiness because I'm genuinely interested in the answers (from you cunts).

But actually because you're all cunts it was in fact a cunning ruse to lure out all the cunts and prove I was right! I was running an experiment to see if.... um.... it proves... err...

Fuck off, you're all cunts!

Arr, the classic ‘get out of jail free’ card - get yourself banned and then you no longer have to take part in a discussion in which you’re appearing more and more of a tit with every post.

Which bit? Games are fun or the sex part?  One may require a lengthy wait due to the aforementioned occasionally.....:(

I would swap being able to rollerblade really well for all the games I’ve ever played since Pong.

I’m hopeless on roller skates, I nearly broke my wrist at a roller disco three years ago. Rollerblades seem like magic to me.

That’s what you took from my post?! When i was scrolling down i’d never have expected that. He wasn’t a rollerblading god or anything, he was pretty into it for years though. I never watched him, i think he’d mostly grind, try trickier ones than just doing simpler longer grinds. Didn’t leap down steps much. There’s a steep set of steps outside Wilkinsons in Eccles, a young rollerblader turned up and someone suggested the steps, they weren’t being serious but he was a bit crazy and without thinking or even looking at how steep just leapt down them...from the pavement 7 feet back. If anyone is on a romantic weekend break in Eccles town centre one time remember to look out for them.

I’ve investigated further about the sudden iphone game playing and he says he doesn’t know anyone who plays it. Maybe he’s having an affair.

I've already gone longer periods than the weirdo OP's challenge without playing stuff this year.

Likewise. Months. I did enjoy showing some friends of the family Beat Saber last weekend though. Think there were a number of Christmas requests out of that.

but since it was my love of games as a teenager that got me into coding and ultimately led to the reasonably well paid and interesting job I’ve got now, as well as meeting my wife (indirectly) through that career path, I don’t think they were a waste of time.

:) Agree completely... Remember when I got my shiny new 48K ZX Spectrum back at Christmas 1983 and played the only game I got with it, Manic Miner. Then moved onto the ZX Basic manual and started cutting my first bits of code on there. Having too few things and not much money inspires. Less is more. A lesson I've been recently teaching myself again as I'm clearing out the house of unnecessary things! :)

Definitely the sex bit, but if you could combine both I'd be VERY interested too.

Try mentally walking from Firelink Shrine to Quelaag’s Domain to delay climax during coitus then, when it’s time to spend your souls, try holding with both hands.
