I remember reading that new starters at Dyson are made to build one of their vacuum cleaners.  This was a while ago, don’t know if they still do that.  A good practise imo

Me too, like that idea. It infuriates that at Royal Mail somebody can manage a department  and never spent a single minute doing the work, which can be ok in some places but not ours.

 

Anyway, Gordon Ramsey and his version of the Apprentice has re-started tonight, Thursday 9pm. Its already produced a OMG moment where a lassy from Essex, who wanted to prove she wasn't "a ditzy blonde", produced the comment of "we know whisky is Scottish, but does anyone else? Do people come to Scotland to drink whisky?"

iirc after the build, the device was sent for final checking after which the employee got to take it home for personal use
