The Apprentice 2019 - 2nd October 9pm BBC1

Lottie Lion

At this point they’re just putting, ‘business dickhead’ in a 3D printer and hitting go.

Thomas Skinner is bullish, drives a powerful luxury sedan, does jui-jitsu because that’s his approach in meetings and has been bankrupt 16 times. He’ll be eliminated week two.

"This is Ryan-Mark. He loves to party and would compare himself to a luxury handbag."

This is my guy

Texted him to a mate. He came back with, “Posh McLovin”.

Why can’t they ever get someone who’s actually good or humble about what they do instead of everyone being the same selfish dick head ready to lie through their teeth worse than a used car sales man and throw under the bus anyone who gets in their way to then just come out with a business plan that’s either a bricks and mortar estate agents or bollocks buzz words that don’t mean a thing. He never gets the chance to pick anyone good, just the less crap person out of a bunch of people who don’t understand business.

Aside from it being "entertainment", its a win-win for Suge-Knight as the BBC probably pay the £250k and thats peanuts to Sugar anyway. But if theres actually a good idea that hits big then Big Al surely gets a majority of any revenue off the top. Im obviously speculating madly but surely its a shit deal that the "winner" signs? It would protect Sugar and give him loads of any money for doing to next nothing except use of  his network and knowledge. I could be way wrong of course and it could be a great deal for everyone.

Has anyone seen those extra-fancy cakes from the other year in any shops? £5 for a stamp sized rocky road or whatever.

It's been dated for 5 years at least. Now it's fermented and strangely moreish.

Your comment made me remember how I used to watch this every year because it was great, but then around 5 years ago just gave up mid series because it just became too dull.

Have they changed anything up or is it still pretty much identical to how it was back then?

I totally agree with this. When they changed the format to an employee apprentice to business partner it lost something. Apart from anything the title doesn't make much sense.

Also, it's noticeable that there's genuine bitchiness and tension in the first few rounds but once it's whittled down to the last 8 they all get on, by and large. Then it's just fake digs but most of them have built up strong relationships with each other. All you get is WWE-style smack-talking which is obvious to see.

I also don't remember any big personality being in there for the last five years. Remember Rafe, Stuart Baggs, Ruth the Badger... Hopkins? But I don't remember a single person from last year.

But, yeah, mainly it's very tired now.

It's min-maxed. Those people emerged from a pool of solid business candidates because they were as competent as the rest, but had a distinct personality (not always in a good way...)

The Beeb have made the traditional mistake of thinking the audience love the show for the 'characters', get fearful a season of the show won't produce them, so bake them in from the start. That means a load of blowhards and idiots who are ostensibly wacky, rather than genuine weirdos/interesting people who emerge. It's what happened as early as season 4 of Big Brother, way back.

Essentially, the way to make this good again would be to take it seriously. Have more professional candidates and give them more serious challenges. Just reboot it in a new format with Sugar gone.

Lottie Lion emerging as this series watch-through-the-fingers candidate.

Thomas Skinner is just Rob Beckett with bipolar. I hope they're on You're Fired together.

Boys messed up by not selling all the tickets & not giving their tour enough time to spend money in the shops. Lottie done well for the girls but yeah I find her annoying.

Mainly the tickets, really - with the commission they had they'd need their punters to spend an average of about £25 each in the shop to win the task, which is rather a lot on souvenir tat no matter how much time you offer. And I reckon staying out longer on the safari to see more animals was a big part of why they had no refunds after the promises the ticket sellers made.

Used to watch this avidly. About three years ago I started to lose focus towards the end of the series. I was browsing the forum for most of this weeks episode.

I will persevere.
