I was really excited until I looked up the developer, Teyon. These are their most recent games:

2019 — 30-in-1 Game Collection Volume 2

2018 — Urban Trial Playground

2017 — Party Planet (aka 30-in-1 Game Collection Volume 1

It can still turn out good, can't it..?

I've always dreamed of an open world Terminator game set in 80s LA with you playing a resistance soldier sent back to perform missions and avoid Terminators/the police. As well as flashback visits to a post apocalyptic version of the same map. This isn't it.

Kinda like the original dos game that came out at the start to the 90’s.

An actual licensed game for home consoles! Time was when they were the bread and butter of third party developers, now they're a bit of a novelty.

I'll keep my eyes on it. Whilst it looks nothing of the like, I still play Terminator: Redemption to this day. It's a hell of a blast:

Good to see that Terminators are keeping to their post T2 strategy of throwing protagonists around for a bit before trying to kill them.

Looks painfully bland, but has just about enough atmosphere to confirm that a less F2P feeling FPS of the future war would be awesome.

well, if you want to play the BEST terminator game ever, (future shock!) you can..."get" it here - https://archive.org/details/TheTerminatorDoublePack-ZombsLair

and the best bit, it works very nicely on modern systems, has some iffy pad support, and a rather nice (imo) "retro" crt affect over it, which helps disguise the low res!

Thank you for the recommendation, but I was fortunate enough to experience it back in the day. It’s exactly that game I’m thinking about when I wish for a quality, modern iteration! *Wistful sigh*

The juxtaposition of license, moody electronic title music and first two minutes of gameplay in this video is hilarious.

Spoiler

“phased plasma rifle in the 40 watt range”

”hey just what you see pal”

”oh, okay, just some analgesic cream then please”

They're putting this out as a full price (£49.99) title, which is a little steep considering the competition it's going to face and the clear AA budget it's had. I'm interested and I'll see what reviews make of it, but I'm thinking it'll make a better £24.99 post Christmas treat, rather than a day one purchase.

Yeah I get the feeling they are chancing it at £50, they will get some early sales from xmas gifters and hardcore terminator fans so I can't blame them.

Me, I'll defo give it a punt at £25. On a physical copy I can trade straight back in assuming it's junk, of course.

As a fan though, I've always got some mileage out of console Terminator games. The Mega CD one is genuinelly good and has aged well, I finished Dawn of Fate, which wasn't too offensive apart from the camera work, and T3 Redemption, which was just ridiculously difficult, I even liked Grin's Salvation game from a decade ago. Even if it was the most rudamentary, unoffensive stop and pop shooter, the license does elevate things somewhat. I think I paid about £20 for it a month after launch.
