Unintentionally hilarious moments in film

Recommended Posts

My main memory of seeing Attack of the Clones opening weekend is the entire Leicester Square Odeon pissing themselves laughing at this sequence

The same thing happened here (although I'm sure in the original she just sits up and says "Yes", which is what set everyone off - they seem to have ADR'd over that for whatever release this is ripped from)

My wife and I started watching The Fugitive last night. I loved it when I was younger and she’d never seen it. All was fine until we got to this bit:

And out of nowhere we laughed so hard we couldn’t breathe for about five minutes and had to turn it off.

I mean, pretty much this entire movie qualifies, but particularly Dustin Hoffman’s line at 1:38.

Sorry to quote myself, but this seems particularly prescient at this time.

All we need to do is find the bloody monkey then and all this goes away.:omg:

I've only seen Attack Of The Clones once back when it was released, but still my over-riding memory of it is the utter ridiculousness of the first scene here. I mean there are lots of reasons it's shockingly piss-poor, but it's the very start that made me burst out laughing. "Here your highness - have a whole raw space pear, and a set of cutlery - tuck in!"

Another one. GoldenEye. I'm sure this is meant to look really cool, but what was Pierce Brosnan thinking when he opened that sliding door? Always makes me laugh.

Had to bump this when I realised no-one had mentioned the best one.

Never seen this thread before. Popped in to see if this was here, I burst out laughing at this in the cinema everyone turned to look at me and my GF at the time had to try and calm me down. One of the funniest this in a movie.

I've always found the gun store scene in Terminator hilarious.

"Phased plasma rifle in the 40 watt range" - RED FLAG!! Do not sell guns to this man.

Also,
"Uzi 9mm"

"Any one of these is ideal for home defense"

Watching the last Twilight film, I burst out laughing in a packed cinema when Bella announced she was naming her daughter after the grandparents Rene and Esme.

Spoiler

Renesme!

I know that’s from the book but it’s monumentally stupid nonetheless.

There's a part in Braveheart where one of the other clan leaders says to Wallace:

"We don't want you armadans thinking you can all the fun"

There's then a lot of muttering from the crowd and you hear one extra over the others (but not loud enough for it to be intentional) say : "armadans?"

I can't get a clip. It's like something out the Simpsons. :)

There's a Chinese action film from a few years ago about a bomb disposal unit and a terrorist in a tunnel, called Shockwave, it's very average and not worth watching, but there was a bit where i think it was the terrorist's brother is in a stretcher after being wounded and he's spent most of the film in that state, the main terrorist trying to keep him alive, and move him out of there unharmed. It's towards the end of the film where the police burst into the tunnel and there's a shoot out, and the brother on the stretcher ends up rolling in the middle of the row of cars, bouncing off them aimlessly, strapped tight, his hand on his chest, his face gaunt, completely helpless, as the occasional bullet splatters his body.

I couldn't stop laughing. It's on youtube, but is more effective coming 1 hour 39 minutes in a film that which never played up to its silliness.

time stamped here

This remains the #1 greatest moment in any Twilight film though:

Attack of the Clones again.

I've mentioned this on here before but The Jedi Council scene, the camera pans round showing all the council members. They're all for the time state of the art CGI, or pretty decent puppets or just typical looking Jedi in the robes.

Then at the end of the shot there's just this one bloke with his face painted blue and a shitty plastic horn glued to his head.

It’s become a Paul Rudd bit when he’s on Conan, but the the actual scene is still comical when I think they were pitching for peril.

Okay, I'm pretty sure this one's just me. At the end of Olympus Has Fallen, Gerard Butler's character Mike has a showdown with the main bad guy, but for some reason I feel like the tension dissipates with Asher's delivery of "C'mon Mike!" because there's this cool/dramatic final battle that has this wounded onlooker cheering someone on. In my head there's an extended cut where Asher acts like that schoolkid in the crowd of the playground brawl, yelling "kick his nads" or "get in there", until it reaches its conclusion...

Watched this on ITV4 the other night.  It's on Amazon if you want to watch the whole thing.  I don't think it comes across in this scene but theres a surround soundtrack that has voices shouting out lines of dialogue from just one of the rear speakers.  Steven Segal ("Forrest") gets out of the helicopter and someone shouts, "Hey, Forrest is here! That Fire is as good as out!" and this sort of thing happens all the way through the movie.  Like the extras telling you what's going on. Lots of scenes have these distinct voices in the rear speakers like a weird directors commentary.

Anyway, if you have never seen this film, watch the first 30 seconds of this clip and try and guess how it is going to end.  Then watch it to the end and see how wrong you were.

The whole of The Great Wall is ridiculous. But this part absolutely fits the bill for being unintentionally hilarious:

Years of training to be an acrobatic ninja and they stick you on the end of a rope and feed you to the monsters.

I hope that Matt Damon for paid really well for this garbage.

Aliens is in my top five favourite films. It’s so perfect I was really offended when I was watching it with a friend one time, when Ripley opens the airlock in the climactic battle with the alien queen. The moment (about 1:07 in this clip) when half-a-Bishop gets sucked across the hangar made my friend guffaw really loudly. I threw her daggers for being so irreverent, but now I laugh every time I see it.

Yeah, I've only ever watched this up to the end of this first attack on the wall, and that's just so dumb.Spectacular, but dumb.
