Higher public profile though?  “Keep an eye out for a short green dude that talks weirdly will you?”  Wouldn’t take long for someone to go “hang on a mo...”.

Yeah fair play on Yoda. Obi-Wan should be able to wander around incognito though.

The end of ROTS suggests that Yoda and Obi-Wan go into hiding for the next 20 years but I don’t see a problem with bending that a bit. It’s not as if Darth Vader’s star destroyer drops out of hyperspace right above you the very second you wander too far from your hovel. It’s a big galaxy. Obi-Wan just needs to keep a low profile and an eye on Luke.

In fact it’s actually pretty selfish how absent Obi-Wan and Yoda are in that 19 year gap. While others are resisting the Imperials and building a rebellion they’re just hiding! At least Ahsoka helps out, and when Luke does a similar thing years later he has a good reason for it.

They looked fine when it was the original trilogy and they were just two old blokes hiding from an unstoppable death machine. But the old EU and the new EU added in so many force wielding types running around with lightsabers that the  pair of them now look like massive dickheads sitting around wanking in their hovels while everyone else is out risking their lives. I know some of these are non-canon now:

  • Ahsoka
  • Ezra Bridger
  • Kannan Jarrus
  • That poindexter from Fallen Order
  • Kyle Katarn
  • Darth Vader's secret apprentice from The Force Unleashed who's 2extreme4u
  • The clone of Darth Vader's secret apprentice from The Force Unleashed who's even more xxxtreme.
  • Paralympian Darth Maul
  • Goth chick who betrayed Count Dooku (she was alive when The Clone Wars show ended anyhoo)

That's off the top of my head. I bet there's an absolute shedload I haven't even thought of.

Why would it be super lame? They could have had a few encounters before Obi went into hiding. I don’t see any problem with it as long as it’s written well.

Obi-wan went straight into hiding. He dropped Luke and Leia at the Lars homestead then buggered off. I doubt whether he left Tatooine in the following 19 years. And Vader hated the place so probably never went back.

Then again, maybe he has a selective memory, like Darkseid in Snyder's Justice League and managed to forget the location of a planet he'd already visited...

I was telling a friend about that plot point the other day, but wasn't sure whether it was down to me missing something.

I could understand him forgetting a planet. He's a busy guy. Probably won't remember every backwater. But he's forgetting a planet he left 4 super important things on, that he's been looking for since. Also apparently the only planet to kick his arse.

Continuing that trend of having actor / directors of cult movies appearing in Star Wars TV shows. I'm hoping for David Lynch as a stormtrooper next.

If he doesn't I blame you. This is n Alien 3 Smithee  situation, The greatest working director alive.

A Disney+ exec accidentally posted that this is coming in May. He did try to walk it back and say he was referring to a new comic series, but he specifically mentioned it was coming to Disney+, which doesn’t have comics.

I’d say 4th is a good bet, being both Star Wars Day and Wednesday, their regular release day.

He should have tried "This isn't the show you're looking for"
