Even if Obi-Wan just feels it as an instinct that’s probably enough for him considering he’s a good dude that doesn’t want to kill his friend anyway.

Despite him acknowledging that his friend is dead! Argh!

Reva’s story made fuck all sense.

Vader has her killed so she returns to kill Luke…does she know his significance? How come Luke doesn’t remmeber being chased by someone with a red light saber when he meets old man kenobi?

Then she starts crying about not being able to save the younglings and whether she is like Vader.

Made no sense at all. Worst Starwars character since Rose.

If there is a second season I reckon focusing on Alderaan and it’s involvement in the fledgling Rebellion,  thus sowing the seeds of it’s ultimate destruction is the direction they will go in.

I definitely think they need to ditch Luke & Tatooine if they make more.

Subplot about why Luke goes to  Tashi power station to pick up some power convertors.

I don’t think that’s true and it doesn’t make any sense. Why would you think blowing up a half built space station would destroy a multi system empire, all their fleets and the emperor who, in subsequent films, you are surprised by his overseeing the next one’s construction?

The death star was fully built in Star Wars and technically the Emperor didn't exist when it first came out either. Most of the the extended lore for it is tacked on now in the likes of the prequels and this.

Yeah. This last episode didn’t do much for me, I’m afraid. They were obviously hoping a climactic Vader VS Obi-Wan fight would redeem all the belly flopping it took to get there. Unfortunately that scene is ruined by..

Vader surviving, naturally. But not just surviving. Surviving when he’s near crippled and at the mercy of a man who acknowledges his friend is gone and Vader is all that remains. Obi-Wan knows how many Jedi Vader and his inquisitors have killed. He was visibly effected by seeing all their lightsabers. He’s seen his cold cruelty first hand. He knows Jedi will continue to die unless he acts, but he doesn’t because of….reasons?

Spoiler

Because doing so leads to the Dark Side. It's like people didn't even watch Return of the Jedi where we're presented with the exact same situation. Vader is at the mercy of Luke, who knows and has seen first hand the evil Vader has done (same as Obi Wan) yet Luke tosses the saber away because he's not willing to give into those dark feelings.

People saying he should have killed Vader seem to have completely forgotten about that.

I feel like these mental acrobatics are becoming quite circular in terms of logic.

Yeah pretty much.

Also Count Doku was in the same position and Anakin finished him off.

You mean the guy who was already conflicted with his feelings who killed a man on Palpetines orders, thus begining his turn to the dark side where he then went and killed a load of kids .

Spoiler

Not the best example to show why Obi Wan didn't kill Vader

How? We know Palpatine wasn't on that space station because of other films that came after the fact. In Star Wars they think they've won and destoryed the empire and its super weapon/main base of operation, they even have a big old ceremony about it.

If they didn't think they won at the end of ANH, why do they think they've won at the end of RoTJ? Based on your logic.

Liked the finale but there's no sense of peril when you know who survives. As odd as the comparison may be, Better Call Saul has rewritten that particular chapter of the prequel book- if only Star Wars had writers half as good as that.

Spoiler

Really liked the Obi-Wan and Vader fight but there were zero stakes with both of them facing off on a deserted planet. Couldn't have had the private moment otherwise, though.

Also good to see Obi-Wan letting go of his guilt, even if it was heavily tinged with sadness.

Anyway, nice having a last look at pre-smithereens Alderaan again, before... er...

Slightly tongue in cheek here, but

if you look at Vader’s “evil” contributions overall, it’s just a string of failures. Didn't finish off Kenobi in this when he had the chance (twice), got fooled by the ship switcheroo and allowed Kenobi to escape, didn’t stop the Death Star plans getting to the Rebels, didn’t stop the destruction of the Death Star, allowed Luke and the Rebels to escape from Hoth, and let Luke escape again from Cloud City after Boba Fett had done the hard work. He’s been rehabilitated slightly by some badass stuff in Rogue One and Kenobi, but that was mostly against non-Force wielders and inanimate objects. I still haven’t seen him actually beat a decent Jedi in a lightsaber duel. Even Maul did that. The Clones killed the vast majority of the Jedi order, and the Inquisitors have got most of the stragglers.

So far, he’s killed a load of children, contributed to the death of a heavily pregnant woman, defeated a former youngling who presumably never finished her training, strangled a few muggles, and cut an old man in half because he let him. He didn’t even kill the Emperor properly as it turns out.

So, what you're saying is, that despite what the fans think of all these characters: Obi Wan, Vader, Boba Fett, they're all actually a bit shit

I enjoyed seeing Darth Vader and Obi Wan fight, little Leia, and well queued classic music across it.

Lots of boo hoo not the best writing and no jeopardy - well why did you continue to watch it?

It's like you've ordered a steak at a restaurant, you eat it all and then complain that it was over cooked. Mental.

It was Star wars and a hell of a lot of fun! It wasn't perfect but then in a New Hope a storm trooper bangs his head on a door and ya'll call it classic.

Nice cameos at the end too.

This is my feelings on it.

It was Star Wars, it's always been full of stupid moments, shit writing, characters making crap choices, excellent cinematic moments, characters that are both brilliant and brilliantly shit, and this was no different.

Why couldn't vader find Obi Wan?

He was looking in Aldeeran places

How did Luke know what he was getting for Christmas?

Because it’s well established in Star Wars lore that Jedi can see the future.

I thought the last episode was one of the better of the show - Obi Wan says his catchphrase! A Star Destroyer! A recognisable leitmotif from the original movie! - but it was still pretty pump.

I didn’t even particularly enjoy the fight scene - yes, it was shot well, and it was well choreographed, but I didn’t care about these versions of the characters. The show didn’t give me a reason to - it couldn’t give me a reason to. I’m not even that convinced by Ewan MacGregor.

It wasn’t a story that needed to be told. It didn’t do anything fun or interesting with the premise. It was quite badly written. it was, for the most part, boring.

And you are it all, ordered drinks desserts, tipped the waiter and then went onto the internet to say it was shit.

That was shite. It’s got good scenes from time to time but they don’t hang together in any way. Things just happen with no logic or reason. The editing is awful. The camerawork is genuinely atrocious, wobbling about constantly in a way I find distracting. But there are good performances and well delivered lines and scenes.

The last episode did indeed have a good force fight scene. Whilst Reva’s actions in the final episode were baffling and I resented the decent stuff being intercut with that pointless rubbish, I thought her last scene was quite good. I really don’t understand why she did any of the things she did though.

There’s enough good stuff in there that I kept hoping that it might come together into something worthwhile, but ultimately despite it having some good performances and the odd decent scene I’d say it was probably 75% shite, which isn’t a desirable ratio.

If it gets a second season I really, really hope they have the guts to not just stack it with characters from other Star Wars stuff. Still waiting for Ewan to get the chance to play Obi-Wan in something that’s actually worth watching.

Surprising that leaving a dismembered Anakin to burn to death in a lava plume didn’t turn Obi-Wan to the dark side then. After observing his surprise in this series, it’s quite clear he assumed Anakin was dead.

Perhaps murder through inaction is a light side loophole.
