Obi-wan wasn't disillusioned like Luke became though. He was hiding out on Tatooine watching over Luke and learning even more mad Force shit from Qui-gon.

That's a good point, I would love to see Force ghost Qui Gon teaching Kenobi or offering sage advice here and there throughout the series. He ultimately has to teach him how to become one with the Force at the very least.

He was supposed to appear to Yoda in ROTS. It was in the script but never filmed. It ended up just being insinuated that he had appeared to Yoda just before Bail Organa, rather rudely, interrupted Yoda's meditation.

Christ the force ghost stuff was so bad in the prequels.

George Lucas kept wanking on about how they he was going to reveal some great secret about force ghosts and how they work as if it was always some great mystery. Personally I always just assumed if you're a powerful enough good guy space wizard it was just something that happens. I was quite content with that for decades. But apparently not.

Then episode 3 plops out and you get this rushed garbled explanation that Liam Neeson learned to turn into a spook somehow, maybe he stumbled upon an FAQ in the Jedi library one day, and he's been ghost Skyping Yoda about all this entirely off screen.

In the scene where Anakin murders Sand People in Episode 2 don't we hear the ghost of Qui Gon shout "Anakin, NO!"  as Yoda grimaces at the death being caused by Anakin?

Bit hypocritical given this cut dialogue from episode 1.

I went up and down the Dune Sea with a lightsaber, hoping I’d be approached by somebody – I’m ashamed to say that – and I did it for maybe a week, hoping some Sand Person would come out of a cantina and have a go at me about something, you know? So that I could dismember him.

You hear him say "Anakin, Anakin!" Then there's a separate "No!" Then Rear Windu enters and asks Yoda what's wrong.

Production suspended, looking for a new writer and likely dropping from six episodes to four. Seems Kathleen Kennedy didn't like the scripts.

After TROS I don't hold much faith in her opinion.

Bring Lucas in. He cast McGregor. He should have a say.

Basically they need to bin Kennedy. She presided over the mess of the sequel trilogy, the mess of the Rogue One reshoots and the mess of the entire process of making Solo into the first outright flop in the history of Star Wars!

Of course these things are a matter of opinion, but in quality terms I think she presided over four individually enjoyable films and one poor one (TROS). I totally agree that as an overseer she dropped the ball but I think she might still have a good eye for a quality. Whatever production troubles Rogue One and Solo had, the final products are both (IMO) very good. TLJ enraged fans but was a critical success.

If she's delayed production because she felt the scripts were not up to standard, I trust her opinion.

How would handing the franchise over to someone who spent years destroying it be better then? I think the sequels have been handled pretty poorly, especially the willingness to change major things in editing. That kinda makes her opinion on the scripts irrelevant, as she’s got no interest in sticking to them anyway. Prequels in general are creatively bankrupt garbage in general, and Rogue One is one of the worst I’ve ever seen.

But even given all that, Lucas would be worse. Despite a total lack of creative direction and a complete lack of respect for the scripts as written, none of her films are close to being as terrible as Attack of the Clones. That’s pure Lucas, and it’s one of the worst Hollywood movies ever made. Regardless of what you think about his early career, between the prequels and the Special Editions, nobody has ever done worse with Star Wars than he did when he was working on it most recently. And his plan for the sequel trilogy was to explain midiclorians even more. He’d clearly gotten to a point where his bitterness about Star Wars and it’s fans was driving his decisions, whether it’s burning the origins prints or planning to double down on the least popular aspect of the prequels.

I know my opinion on his early career is very different to most people, but I can’t believe after his more recent stuff anyone would ever want to watch a film made by him again.

They're bigger twats that even that though. It's now been revealed that they can interact with the physical world, still use their force telekinesis powers and Yoda can even summon lightning like fucking Thor. Thanks for the assist glowy robe cunts.

Probs put into explain why there wasn't 1000 of jedi ghosts all over the place warning Yoda that the chancellor was dodgy as fuck.

Wasn't it Qui Gon Jin that discovered how to become a force ghost?

I think she's demonstrably an amazing producer, and has an enormous talent for that.

Unfortunately, she's not a successful creative director (or whatever you'd call this role) but I'd definitely hang back making judgements until we find out how hard Disney - specifically Bob Iger - has had their foot on the back of her neck this whole time.

Whatever has been going on, it's clear they are bringing over the MCU guys to take over.

Yup Feige has been given a Star Wars roll. He's developing a Star Wars and it would surprise me if that was a new trilogy or even the next set with Rey and co.

Kennedy has just fucked things up massively. She can point to the money all she wants but its Star Wars, it was always going to earn billions. Creatively she hasn't got a clue and the fact they started the new trilogy without any over arching plan has shown. Then theres the mess with R1 reshoots and Solo. Her tenure on the creative side has been a disaster.

I know a fair few here aren’t keen on a 15-movie MCU type thing, but I’d be happy if Feige just came up with a cohesive story for a trilogy, with Filoni and Favreau onboard.

Is there any definitive proof that it was Kathleen Kennedy that was really the one making any of these stipulations? She's had a great career and produced and exec produced loads of amazing movies but somehow she has now become Satan because the films she didn't write or direct weren't very good. I don't know otherwise either but I don't imagine it's all her fault as much as people like to blame her for it.
