Tough fixtures this week. Can't work out exactly who to play. Not a huge fan of my squad, spread myself too thinly and ended up with too strong a bench and too weak a main team. A strong bench did me well in the second half of last year, but that was paid for by accrued team value - doesn't really work in GW1.

Question for Wolves types - do you reckon Jiminez will play against Burnley on Sunday, and if so, will he be knackered? Looks like he only got 10 minutes off last night. The alternative is to field King against Man City, and I think a penalty is his only hope of points.

Regretting picking Jiminez, TBH. Europa is murder for non-big-six teams.

Yeah I steered clear of wolves for that reason. Think Jimenez is guaranteed to start, but taking a quick look at your team, i would be wildcarding during the international break. Def too much value on the bench.

Ive had a pretty good start, but find myself in a bit of a pickle. 3 of my players have dropped in value already and only one has gone up! Wood, Perez and Wilson. I’m fine keeping two of them for a while longer yet, so I guess I have to hope they start getting points, punish the knee jerkers and go back up again.

Ive also avoided the pukki train. If he scores against Chelsea I might have to hop on myself. I’m telling myself his fixtures aren’t worth getting him in yet, but you can’t get left behind when a cheap player like that bursts on to the scene. Going to be hiding behind the sofa for that Norwich game.

I broke my rule and captained Sterling away over Salah at home because City had an easier game. Based on how GW3 has gone, I fully expect Bournemouth to do a Palace and somehow contrive to win.

A fabulous 35 points with 3 to play, but it looks like most people are doing badly. Unless they captained Salah of course.

44 with five to play. Transferred in Martial and Pukki. Captained Martial, which wasn’t a disaster, but with Salah and Pukki in the team wasn’t optimal.

Also picked Pope ahead of Heaton, because Everton are so much better on paper than they are in reality, and I thought Wolves would be tired after Europa. 6pts stuck on the bench, but maybe Pope will match it.

I think I’ll wildcard in the international break.

70 with 2 still to play. Unfortunately, one of them is Simpson for Bournemouth, so unless I have a huge stroke of luck I can't see it rising much! The other is Neves, who may well get me something. It's been enough to jump me to the top of my office league, 2nd in the LFC fans league, and 7th place in this one, currently highest scorer this weekend in all 3. I should retire at this point, as I don't think I'll ever have a better performance than this...

I'm on 37, with Kane (captain) and De Bruyne to play.

And to think I had Joelinton in there before having the bright idea to shuffle my team around to get Kane in.

Edit: and I had Jimenez, who's just scored in the 97th minute. I'm done with this fantasy bullshit, until next Friday at least.

I've had a decent enough week, happy that taking a punt on Heaton over Pope worked out. I have the trifecta of Mane, Sterling and Aubameyang as the consistent core of my team. Aguero and Salah are mighty tempting but picking either of them would necessitate shrinking my consistent core down to 2. I think this season more than ever is going to be about growing your funds so that you can squeeze in one extra, consistent, big money player.

I jumped on the team(u) Pukki train for this gameweek and glad that I did - it's difficult to see him going anywhere but up at this point. Those that had him from week 1 are going to be riding high. Likely to lose their places in my team this week are Perez and Ndombele (pending his injury status). I had high hopes for Perez at Leicester but looks like he's going to take a while to find his feet. Defence are getting left alone unless it looks like Robertson's price is starting to drop. Clean sheets seem to be hard to come by this season.

Has anyone tried and succeeded in making money during the international break by wildcarding early and picking players whose price may rise?

I think I made about 0.2 doing it a few years ago, but last year the price moves just didn't happen (I kept my wildcard in my pocket, too). The problem is that transfers under wildcard don't contribute to price changes, so if everyone plays their wildcard, then prices don't change much.

I decided against in the end. Was listening to the Official FPL podcast and they were talking about using your wildcard if you wanted to change more than 2 of your team.

I think I'm largely happy with mine, although I'm tempted to switch Sterling for DB to free up some funds.

I’d be wary of triple Burnley defence, but otherwise yup. Amazed you can afford City’s three big guns, Mane and TAA.

I only have KDB, and I’m dreading this Norwich match.

Can see why

I'm so glad I have Pukki in, he's been immense so far and I see him picking up a few points against Burnley this week too.

I've spent a few points this week to have a change around to take some Wolves players out, they are doing poorly in the league and I'm not sure if it's in part due to their European games, are they stretched a bit too thin?

So my midfield now consists of - De Bruyne, Mane, Sterling & Cantwell

With an attack of - Abraham, Rashford and Pukki

Which tbh I think is pretty immense currently but Abraham is up against Liverpool this week and I don't see him getting much there but you never know, there's no one I can bring in for the same price that I think would make up the 4 points and more though so will be leaving him in.

Well I'm sticking to my no fiddling policy which I started last year and its going OK so far, I've made no transfers at all and am sat in third spot - if nothing else it saves you the anguish every weekend of binning players who score loads of points.

I may make my first transfer this weekend though as Walker at City not paying his way.
