Football Thread 2019/2020

Klopp should make Lovren captain and have him twerk on De Bruyne as he walks past him just to make Danny Murphy’s head explode.

I wonder what the players on the receiving end think about guards of honour?

As a fan, I can't say I really care about it; as @Gotters says, it's all a bit fake and insincere. I'd have more respect for players congratulating teams on their social media, rather than being told to stand here and clap as the opposition comes out on the pitch in front of TV cameras when they have a game to focus on.

I suppose if nothing else it'll probably rile the City players up a bit.

We have been pretty dreadful since we returned. I'm not sure how taking 2 and a half minutes to decide a penalty can be seen as a clear and obvious error though. Ho hum.

I think West Ham are going to stay because none of the teams below them look like winning any points. As long as they aren't on the end of any hidings their goal difference should keep them safe.

I particularly enjoyed them not even going to VAR for the same sort of handball that we had a penalty given against for in stoppage time against Liverpool.

*sigh*

Done over with a handball for the first spurs goal the other week, goal chalked off just now and then a dive Kane would have been proud of.

I mean, we're shit but fucking hell VAR :(

Even your own player didn't bother to say anything man, he took him out.

Left his leg out sure, but didn't bring him down. Pulisic fucking got more air than Tony Hawk.

Some clubs just seem to have their goals looked at more closely than others. It’s really odd.

They're doing themselves no favours - it looks corrupt as fuck because there's no consistency.

I don't think they ARE corrupt FWIW, just wholly incompetent at using the system which is fucking over teams every single week as a result.

If they can't see it on one replay, the ref didn't make an obvious error. Should be that simple.

Yes I know Offside isn't "Obvious error" but it should be.

Yep, absolutely. They've brought all the criticisms and accusations upon themselves by being fucking useless at implementing the system.

It should be fairly simple. It's like watching my late grandad trying to set the VHS to record Antiques Roadshow. It took him ages and he ended up with the latter half of Heartbeat by mistake.

It's the utter inconsistency of those running VAR that infuriates so much. If it takes more than 30 seconds to decide, with the benefit of multiple camera angles, then it's not a clear and obvious error.
